If you ever need a second screen or lack the space for a proper multi-display setup, you will want to take a hard look at the new Spectrum Nano.

This portable 15.6-inch 300-nit display comes in 4K, 2K, and 1080p variants and supports up to a 165Hz refresh rate.

The display is touch-enabled and supports 10-point touch.

Connectivity comes in the form of a USB-C or HDMI connection. It supports various devices, including PCs, Macs, consoles, and Android devices.

The Spectrum Nano has a 5000mAh battery which Tech Armory claims can last up to 5 hours per charge. It has a built-in stereo speaker and weighs just under 2 pounds (900 grams).

The Spectrum Nano accepts a Vesa mount for those interested in mounting options. The display can even charge your phone if you are in a pinch.

With 27 days left on Indigogo, this device sits at 149% of its $2,000 goal. It currently has almost $3,000, with half the backers opting for the 4K display.

The 2.5K display (165Hz refresh rate) is especially intriguing. It would strike a great balance for extending a laptop display while allowing for some serious portable gaming.

The 2.5K version is currently $290 on Indigogo as an early bird special. The 4K variant is $300, the 1080p/120Hz is $225, and the 1080p/60Hz is $200.

The post 11 great crowdfunding campaigns to check out in December appeared first on KnowTechie.

Crowdfunding is an excellent way for innovative products to see the light of day without the restrictions placed on in-house development at large companies.

It’s also a great place to check out video games from small studios, movies, and campaigns for social good.

With all those campaigns competing for your attention, finding ones based on your interests can be tricky. Let KnowTechie do all the hard work for you with our top picks for December.

Check out these 11 awesome crowdfunding campaigns this month

So… with how many crowdfunding campaigns are out there, how do you choose what to back?

Well, I use a combination of checking out their campaign page, looking to see if any of the comments on their show dissatisfied backers, and companies I’ve already had successful pledge fulfillment.

I also stick to gadget areas I know a bit about, like photography, cooking, maker tools, and writing implements. That way, I can judge whether the campaign’s aspirations are within reach.

I’m also picking campaigns with some time left to run, as it’s no fun finding out about excellent gadgets after they’ve finished.

So, with all of that out of the way, here are some of the crowdfunding campaigns I’ve found worthy of attention in December:

SUMJet Pro – The First True Cordless Dry Cleaner

Steam cleaners are great tools to degunk our homes and smooth away wrinkles in our clothes. The big problem is that they’re mostly corded, so you can only use them when near a socket.

SUMjet Pro fixes that with a fully cordless design that can create 320f temperature steam.

Superheated Ultra-fine Mist (SUM) can steam suits, car seats, and clean surfaces you’d rather not touch, like those in your bathroom or kitchen wall.

Zeus: World’s smallest 270W GaN charger

Chargeasap is back with a tiny 270W Gallium Nitride (GaN) charger. It has three USB-C Power Delivery ports and one USB-A port with QuickCharge 3.0, AFC, VOOC, SCP, and FCP support.

That’s most of the powerful fast-charging specs in one easy-to-carry device. One USB-C port is rated to 140W, to power things like the latest 16-inch MacBook Pro.

The other two USB-C ports are rated 100W, and the USB-A is 36W max.

HEIPI: The Most Compact 3-in-1 Travel Tripod

For travel photographers, portability is key. HEIPI’s travel tripod has a three-pillar center column for more support.

It also means that you can take the center pillar out and have a second tripod on you at all times.

It’s constructed from carbon fiber, so you get the best balance of weight and stiffness for stability. HEIPI also comes with a pro-level ball head, so your shots will be supported at any angle.

Pimax Portal – World’s First Metaverse Entertainment System

Ever wanted a device that can transform based on how you want to play?

The Pimax Portal might be the closest thing so far, being able to change between a standalone VR headset, a tethered VR headset, a mobile gaming device, and a living room entertainment hub.

The Android device is powered by the Qualcomm XR2, the same chip in the Meta Quest Pro. It has a 4K LCD, or an optional QLED display with MiniLED backlight, and can output 4K at 120Hz when in docked mode.

The Skip 1s Universal Remote Control by Flirc

Trying to control your entertainment devices is tricky, with everyone needing a different remote. Flirc’s Skip 1s universal remote lets you control things with just one unit.

The software for the Skip 1s gives deep customization into user modes and looks like it works with all kinds of devices.

Drag and drop customization for every button is available, and you can customize the backlighting color.

FUELL Fllow: Ride Into the Future

FUELL and ex-Harley Davidson engineer Eric Buell are back, this time with an electric motorcycle.

The FUELL Fllow looks like a midsize motorbike, but it’s got the low center of gravity of a scooter thanks to the heavy and large 10 Kwh battery.

That battery gives it a 150+ mile range, whether you’re dodging through commuter traffic or opening it up on the highway. It has CCS fast charger capability to recharge in under thirty minutes.

Brightbin – Make your inventory smart

Do you have hobbies that involve storing parts, books, or anything else that needs an inventory? Brightbin is here to take the pain out of inventory management.

Digitally catalog your items, then let Brightbin show you a shelf to put them away on. On the flip side, you can use Brightbin software to locate the bin you stored the item in originally.

Nireeka Revenant – Full-suspension trail eMtb

This ebike has full suspension and mountain bike styling, with a 1000W hub-mounted motor. That gets a max speed of 35 MPH, and has a 50-mile range thanks to an 840 Wh battery using Samsung cells.

The frame is carbon fiber, stopping is handled by ABS hydraulic disc brakes, and the fast charger can get you back on the road in 3-5 hours.

GPD Pocket 3

Small PC form factors have a niche market, but nobody does it better than GPD.

The Pocket 3 has an 8″ screen with a 1920×1200 resolution (16:10), and either the Intel Core i7-1195G7 or Intel Pentium Silver N6000 processor.

Either model supports Thunderbolt 4/USB4, WiFi 6E, has an IR camera for Windows Hello, and a pressure-sensitive stylus. You also get a 2.5GBe Ethernet port and a KVM module for controlling a server or other computer.

Retro Styled Modular IPS Display for old and new systems

Love retro gaming but not the weight of the CRTs you need to enjoy older consoles? Well, this retro-styled monitor might be the answer.

You get a 19″ shell that you can put any panel inside to create a personalized monitor. But that’s not all.

You can then add input ‘pods’ that house Component, Composite, HDMI, VGA, and MiSTer AIO for retro gaming, or a Raspberry Pi pod to turn it into a fully contained computer.

E-ink fans are going to love this tablet, which is one of the first to use the new E Ink Gallery 3 color technology.

It has a 300 ppi, just like the class-leading e-readers, but it has CMYW pigments to create saturated, colorful images.

The Bigme Galy runs on Android 11, so it has multiple productivity apps and a pressure-sensitive stylus with eraser. Perfect for annotations, writing, or sketching.

Crowdfunding is cool, but understand what you’re getting into

Getting in on a new gadget or tech before it comes to market is a neat feeling. When you back a crowdfunding project, you’re personally helping to bring something to retail availability.

That said, there are some things to keep in mind. While your pledged money to the creator is guaranteed, your reward is not.

Sometimes delays happen, and campaigns miss their delivery estimate. In rare cases, campaigns fail to live up to their promises, and you end up with nothing.

This is less common now that crowdfunding is more mature. The major crowdfunding sites have reviewing processes in place to minimize fraud, along with rules for campaigns to stay trustworthy.

Crowdfunding is a cool way for innovative products to see the light of day without the restrictions placed on in-house development at large companies.

It’s also a great place to check out video games from small studios, movies, and campaigns for social good.

With all those campaigns competing for your attention, finding ones based on your interests can be tricky. Let KnowTechie do all the hard work for you with our picks of the crop for October.

Check out these 11 awesome crowdfunding campaigns this month

So… with how many crowdfunding campaigns are out there, how do you choose what to back?

Well, we use a combination of checking out their campaign page, looking to see if any of the comments on their prior campaigns show dissatisfied backers, and also companies we’ve already had successful pledge fulfillment from.

I also tend to stick to gadget areas we know a bit about, like photography, cooking, maker tools, and writing implements. That way, we can judge whether or not the campaign’s aspirations are within reach.

We also pick campaigns with some time left to run, as it’s no fun finding out about cool campaigns after they’ve finished.

So, with all of that out of the way, here are some of the crowdfunding campaigns we’ve found worthy of attention in October:

TCL NXTWEAR S XR Glasses

Augmented reality glasses are everywhere these days, and this pair from TCL looks pretty good. Housed in oversized sunglasses, the NXTWEAR S creates a virtual 140-inch screen in your field of vision.

Use them for gaming, watching movies, or for working discretely so nobody can see what you’re doing. They’re also compatible with smartphones, consoles, PC, and laptops.

Maven Filters

Filters are an essential tool in every photographer and videographer’s kit bag. The thing is, most are full of frustrations as well. Maven aims to solve all those frustrations, so you can concentrate on creating.

Their filter system uses magnets to attach to your lens, not annoying threads that stick. They’re also color-coded, so you can tell which one you’re using at a glance.

Yarbo – intelligent yard robot

Hate mowing your lawn? Who doesn’t, but now you can outsource that job to robots with this new crowdfunding campaign. Yarbo doesn’t just keep your grass at HOA-approved levels though.

You can swap out its mower module for a leafblower or a mini-snowblower. No more back-breaking snow shoveling. Bliss.

Loona – The most Intelligent Petbot

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/nNmqS0_fMxU

Know someone who’d love a robotic companion for Christmas this year? Meet Loona, the crowdfunding petbot that looks like she rolled out of a Pixar movie.

Full of personality, she loves to follow you around like a real pet. She’ll quietly amuse herself if you’re busy too, and is packed full of AI technology to make her seem more alive.

Keychron K3 Pro

Keychron’s latest custom mechanical keyboard has low-profile Gateron switches, so the keyboard takes up less vertical space on your desk.

Multitask with up to three devices via Bluetooth 5.1, and get a 1,000Hz polling rate when connected via USB-C for fast responsive typing or gaming.

The K3 Pro is also compatible with VIA and QMK, the most widely used keymapping firmware. That means you can customize every key, including on-board macro functionality.

Horizon MFi and MagSafe 3-in-1 charger

Sick of having your desk or nightstand covered in chargers? Horizon charges your iPhone, AirPods, and your Apple Watch, all from a slimline device.

It also folds out to provide a handy stand for your iPhone while charging via MagSafe wireless. MagSafe, 10W Qi for your AirPods, and the fastest charge for your Apple Watch Series 7 or 8, all in one device.

MIRROSKY

Astronomy is cool, but this telescope crowdfunding campaign is even cooler. It’s packed with smarts to help you identify celestial bodies and automatically tracks them while taking images on its integrated imager.

That’s enough resolution to image faraway nebulae, or get high-resolution snaps of the planets in our Solar System. You also get a stainless steel tripod and app control with over 100,000 objects cataloged for easy viewing.

Outisan e-Wagon

Carrying gear around is a pain, and all-terrain wagons get heavy and unwieldy quickly. Outisan’s new crowdfunding campaign brings an electric utility wagon with power assist motors in the wheels.

Those motors help on any terrain, but really come in handy when going up or down hills. Make light work of even the heaviest loads with this e-wagon.

Shelfy

Food waste is a big issue, and Shelfy wants to help. It uses photocatalytic filtering to make the contents of your fridge last longer.

No more bad odors, reduced bacteria, and food that lasts multiple times as long. That sounds like a winning combination to us.

Skate-X

What do you get when you put a bunch of skateboarders in charge of designing an e-scooter? You get the crowdfunding campaign Skate-X, and it’s gnarly.

20 mph top speed, 20-mile range, a minimalist frame designed to make it feel like carving on a skateboard, and a quality build informed by decades of experience.

You also get a 500W motor, headlights, taillights, turn signals, and both foot and handbrakes.

Rotolight NEO 3 PRO and AEOS 2 PRO

Rotolight is back, with pro versions of the two lights that set Kickstarter on fire in 2021. The Neo 3 Pro and Aeos 3 Pro dial up the features, making some of the best LED lights even better.

The Pro versions gain true aperture dimming, wireless trigger compatibility with the biggest brands, and over 100 preset light recipes.

That’s on top of the 2,500 digital filters and 16.7 million colors that you could already dial in. The result? The best small-factor LED lights just got better.

We’ve picked our favorite crowdfunding campaigns this month. It’s only a tiny cross-section of the crowdfunding space, which has something for everyone.

We hope it’s sparked some interest in the space, and we encourage you to browse for projects that might fit your interests more.

Crowdfunding is a cool way for innovative products to see the light of day without the restrictions placed on in-house development at large companies.

With all those campaigns competing for your attention, it can be tricky to find ones based on your interests. Let KnowTechie do all the hard work for you with our crop picks for March.

Check out these 11 awesome crowdfunding campaigns this month

So, with how many crowdfunding campaigns are out there, how do you choose what to back?

Well, I use a combination of checking out their campaign page, looking to see if any of the comments on their prior campaigns show dissatisfied backers, and also companies I’ve already had successful pledge fulfillment from.

I also tend to stick to gadget areas I know a bit about, like photography, cooking, maker tools, and writing implements. That way, I can judge whether or not the campaign’s aspirations are within reach, which adds to my decisions.

I’m also picking campaigns with some time left to run, as it’s no fun finding out about cool campaigns after they’ve finished.

So, with all of that out of the way, here are some of the crowdfunding campaigns I’ve found worthy of attention in September:

OXS Thunder 7.1.2 Gaming Sound System with Neck Speaker

Don’t want to wear headphones when gaming? OXS Thunder has you covered with a Dolby Atmos-equipped soundbar.

With ten channels, this soundbar blasts out a ton of sound. That’s five front, two up-firing, one extra bass, and two channels in a satellite neck speaker. Yes, neck speaker, in a headrest to attach to your gaming chair.

Lawna, the smart cyber mower

Anyone who’s had to cut the lawn this summer knows that’s a task better suited to robots. No more sweating under the midday sun, because the crowdfunding campaign Lawna is here to do it for you.

The fully-autonomous mower doesn’t need a perimeter wire, because it’s got AI-powered vision. No more inaccurate mapping and multiple mowing patterns to make sure every inch of your yard is trimmed.

WAHU – the tech shoes

We’ve had decades of sneaker manufacturers saying trapped air is the best thing for bounce and comfort. What if you could customize that cushioning, on a whim, at any time?

Enter WAHU. These awesome shoes have robotic pneumatics (air pressure) to customize the cushioning level to three preset options. Inbuilt sensors and machine learning learn your walk, then give you tips.

They also charge wirelessly, so no worrying about charge ports getting gunked up.

LIVALL smart bicycle helmet

Safety helmets are a must when riding your bike, especially on roads. Make your helmet even safer with Livall, which adds fall detection, phone calls, smart lighting, braking warning lights, and speakers from JBL.

The built-in speakers help accentuate traffic noises, meaning you can focus on the road while still clearly hearing your surroundings. It can even send SOS messages in an emergency. What a smart helmet.

CASIRIS A6: The Truest Color 4K Ultra-RGB Laser Projector

Short-throw laser projectors are everywhere right now, but we’ve never seen one this cheap. The Casiris 4K is rated to 2200 ANSI lumens, can project up to a 120-inch screen, and has HDR10, Dolby Atmos, and more.

Using three lasers, the projector gives 107% coverage of the BT.2020 color gamut, which is amazing. The team is already fully-funded too, after only a few days.

CAPSULE PRO: Versatile Motorized Pan and Tilt Head

More people have been getting into photography over the era of social distancing. The latest crowdfunding campaign from Miops might the next thing you need for that creative edge.

We loved the original Capsule 360, and now there’s a Pro version. Easily add pans and tilts to your timelapses, or upgrade with the Slider+ and add linear motion for even more emotion.

Everything is easily computer controlled from the iOS or Android app, and the motors are quieter, but stronger this time around.

Angry Miao CYBERBLADE

Angry Miao made their name with edgy, unobtainable custom keyboards, but now they’re edging into the audio world. Aloy’s headset in Horizon Zero Dawn inspired the CYBERBLADE TWS earbuds, and they’re every bit as futuristic.

Cyber RGB lighting, ultra-low latency wireless, a charging case that works as a dock for use with anything with USB audio output, active noise canceling, and more. They’re the future, and they’re here now.

Dragonfly – the Hyperscooter

Skateboards are cool, but they’re kinda difficult to learn how to control. What if you could have the same street-shredding fun, with an e-scooter that does all the hard work for you?

That’s the promise of the Dragonfly Hyperscooter, a four-wheeled e-scooter with a top speed of 25 mph. The four wheels and large carbon fiber platform give you stability, and the full-tilt steering system gives you all the agility you need.

The best part? You never have to touch the floor, even at a full stop.

Wicked Egg food dispensing pet toy

We love our pets, but we can’t always be around. To keep them happy when we go out, it’s time for toys, like this automatic, interactive toy and treats dispenser.

Instead of balls or toys that always do the same thing, Wicked Egg reacts differently every time. Every interaction is different, making each treat new and exciting.

Oh, and it’s also got a pre-programmed sleep mode for 30 minutes of rest after every 10 minutes of play.

Holoswim 2: AR Smart Swim Goggles

Swimming is great exercise, but you do feel cut off from the world. Holoswim 2 puts an augmented reality display into your swimming goggles, so you can track your performance.

You get 12 metrics tracked, including laps, times, calories, stroke type, and more. Those can be studied in the companion app, and areas of improvement figured out. It’s a virtual coach, in your goggles.

Lumos Firefly | The Ultimate Bike Light System

Bike lights are an essential safety feature, but they’re annoying to use. Most available ones clip onto the bike, need specialized mounts, are hard to charge, or use disposable batteries.

Not Firefly. The tiny bike lights are magnetically attached, so you only have to touch them to your bike. They sync up automatically, show braking warnings, turn signals, and more.

Oh, and they recharge via wireless charging, so no more annoying batteries.

This is a small cross-section of the current crowdfunding campaigns that are running. If they’re not to your tastes, you can probably find something more suitable by browsing Kickstarter or Indiegogo.

Just know that you might have to wait a while for your item or, in extreme cases, won’t get anything at all.

Have any thoughts on this? Carry the discussion over to our Twitter or Facebook.

So… with how many crowdfunding campaigns are out there, how do you choose what to back?

Well, I use a combination of checking out their campaign page, looking to see if any of the comments on their prior campaigns show dissatisfied backers, and also companies I’ve already had successful pledge fulfillment from.

I also tend to stick to gadget areas I know a bit about, like photography, cooking, maker tools, and writing implements. That way, I can judge whether or not the campaign’s aspirations are within reach, which adds to my decisions.

I’m also picking campaigns with some time left to run, as it’s no fun finding out about cool campaigns after they’ve finished.

So, with all of that out of the way, here are some of the crowdfunding campaigns I’ve found worthy of attention in August:

Magfast Lux and Extreme

Charging cables suck. Especially the one devices come with, which often fray or break quickly. Magfast gives you a lifetime warranty on cables, so you can keep throwing them in your bag with abandon.

They come in USB-C to USB-C, or USB-C to Lightning, and come with an adapter for use with USB-A ports.

Then there’s Extreme, the power bank with three Qi Charging ports, five USB ports (Two C, three A), and enough power to jumpstart your car (with the accessory cable). Whew.

The other thing to know? Shipping will start in December now for Lux cables, as the campaign is already so successful they had to adjust their factory order. The Extreme power banks are scheduled to ship in March of next year.

OEPLAY

Want your speakers to look as good as they sound? OEPLAY might be just what you’re looking for. The combination of AMT tweeters and powerful subwoofers brings clear, crisp audio with smooth bass.

That combination of speakers produces a 33Hz to 55kHz response range – more than most speakers or headphones can manage. Then they add Bluetooth 5.0 to the mix for wireless connectivity from any device. Oh, and it looks great, and can be paired for true stereo sound.

minbay Pixel Artboard

If you’ve ever wanted a dedicated device to do pixel art on, this is your time. Minbay’s Pixel Artboard is a pocketable, portable device dedicated to pixel artists. Never be far from your tools, so wherever inspiration hits you can push those pixels around.

AYANEO Air

It’s easy to forget that in the wake of the Steam Deck release, other companies have been cranking out portable Windows handsets for years.

AYANEO’s latest crowdfunding campaign, the Air, uses a 1808p OLED screen for crisp, colorful visuals. It’s powered by either the AMD Ryzen 5 5560U or the Pro model uses the Ryzen 7 5825U.

Get ready to say “cya” to joystick drift, as the Air uses the hall effect for both the triggers and joysticks. That’s when they measure the angle with magnetic fields, instead of physical parts that wear out over time. Oh, and it weighs less than the Switch OLED!

F1, World’s First Digital Soldering w/ Fume Extractor

Most people don’t have a dedicated fume cabinet at home. That’s a problem when working with solder, as the fumes contain noxious chemicals, or even lead.

The F1 aims to fix that by combining a fume extractor hood with a digitally-controlled soldering iron. The 75W soldering iron can reliably heat to a range of 50C – 480C. Pull the 360-degree tube to where you’re soldering, and hit the fan. Fumes are instantly reduced, and your health is protected.

ALuminate – The Ultimate Illuminated House Sign

Tired of delivery drivers not finding your address, especially at night? Wish they could read your house number from halfway down the block?

You want an ALuminate house sign, with its tasteful illumination and brushed metal or matte black finish. Give your delivery drivers a break, and give your house the classy sign it deserves.

JOYO: An Out-of-this-World Smart Board Game Experience

Physical board games are great, but what about adding some AI magic? The JOYO system consists of a flying UFO playing piece that serves as a console, arbiter of rules, and more.

The crowdfunding campaign reads hidden code on your board and pieces to determine how the rules work for your game. Play variants of Battleship, or test your memory, play fantasy adventures, chase ghosts, and more.

GPD WIN Max 2

GPD usually makes pocketable powerhouses of ultraportable Windows laptops. Now it’s supersized its latest UMPC, the Win Max 2.

It’s got a 10.1-inch IPS screen to play on, a keyboard you can type on comfortably, and a built-in gaming controller.

It’s powered by either the 12th gen Intel i7-1260P with Xe Graphics, or the Ryzen 7 6800U with Radeon 680M, 16GB of RAM, 1 or 2TB of NVME storage, and Windows 11. Oh, and there’s an optional LTE module, for connectivity wherever, whenever.

Afreda S6: A Fold-in-1s Reverse 3-wheel E-bike

Most e-bikes want to trim wheels, but this crowdfunding campaign for a reverse trike puts a second one at the front for smooth, stable cornering.

It’s got a 37-mile range with a 22mph max speed, tons of shock absorption, and stronger braking as it brakes on two wheels. Oh, and it unfolds in one step, in one second. That’s insane.

Wejoy touch screen 4k projector

Turn any surface into a touchscreen computer, with this portable 4K projector. Running on Android 9.0, the Wejoy has auto focus and keystone correction, and 600 lumens of brightness.

Pair it with the rechargeable interactive pen for presentations, or play any Android game you want on the wall. The optical engine is sealed for dust proofing and heat issues are a thing of the past.

These are just a small selection of the currently-available crowdfunding campaigns this month. We’ll be back next month with more crowdfunded tech, gadgets, and toys.

Well, I use a combination of checking out their campaign page, looking to see if any of the comments on their prior campaigns show dissatisfied backers and companies I’ve already had successful pledge fulfillment from.

So, with all of that out of the way, here are some of the crowdfunding campaigns I’ve found worthy of attention in July:

HPRT MT810 Wireless Portable Printer

Take all of the fuss out of portable printing with the MT810. It uses thermal transfer to print clear, smudge-free prints. Even better, it prints from an internal paper roll, so you don’t have to worry about carefully carrying paper around with you.

While it probably won’t replace a full-on printer for those that need it for more complex jobs, the MT810 fits a small niche pretty well.

READ MORE: The HPRT MT810 is a portable printer you can take anywhere

If you frequently need printed documents but spend a lot of the time on the go, the MT810 could come in handy. You never have to worry about adding ink, and it’s completely wireless, so you don’t need any extra cables.

Space 0 DIY electronic kits inspired by NASA

Space is cool, and the first images from the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) show that it’s even cooler than previously imagined.

Build yourself some scale models of some of the coolest spacecraft, with these awesome kits. Choose from the JWST, the Solar Orbiter, the ISS, Apollo Lunar Module (with space rover), or the CubeSat NEA Scout. All made from PCB material that you solder together, learning about electronics along the way. Neat.

Loupedeck Live S streaming controller

Streamers, creatives, and those who want deeper control over their computers will love the Loupedeck Live S crowdfunding project. This tiny interface has touch-sensitive buttons and tactile dials to which you can assign almost anything.

And we mean anything. A robust plugin selection means you can control everything from OBS to Adobe products, Spotify, Voicemod, or even Philips Hue. Take control of your PC with the do-everything Loupedeck Live S.

Lucis Light Patch: Light Recovery for Bruises

Bruise like a peach? Did you know you can hasten your bruise healing with light? The Lucis light patch crowdfunding campaign gets you a yellow-light patch for fresh bruises, and a blue-light patch for older bruising. Both patches speed away the bruising, so you’ll return to your unbruised self in no time.

NuraTrue Pro with lossless audio

You don’t normally associate high fidelity with Bluetooth audio, but that may change. We loved Nura’s personalized sound when we reviewed their over-ears, and now you can get that tech in true wireless earbud form.

The NuraTrue Pro also features active noise cancellation, and Dirac Virtuo spatial audio, for even more lifelike playback. They’re one of the first devices to use Qualcomm’s latest Bluetooth 5.3 chip, which lets them use aptX Lossless audio with compatible sources. That all adds up to a better sound for you.

Hearth Display family bulletin board

The connected family needs a connected bulletin board to organize all the chaos of modern life. The Hearth Display modernizes the paper calendar, so you never miss an important event.

Create profiles for everyone in your household, then connect their existing digital calendars. Create shared to-do lists, shopping lists, and more. Display your kids’ art creations when you’re not perusing the calendar, and more.

FeiyuTech SCORP Mini gimbal

FeiyuTech is no stranger to the world of gimbals, and the SCORP Mini is their latest offering. Unlike every other gimbal, this little guy is designed to work with mirrorless cameras, action cameras, point-and-shoot, and even smartphones. That gives it more adaptability to your needs, and the fun is only beginning.

Use the magic wheel to tilt/pan/roll, or even to pull focus. It also helps control the menus, so you don’t have to fiddle with tiny buttons. With the handle design, you can use it in briefcase mode, vertical, or even underslung. The best thing? How tiny this thing is, at only 1.735lbs. That’s even while having a 2.645lbs max payload.

SunnySide solar-powered heating and cooling lunchbox

There’s nothing quite as annoying as your carefully-packed lunch spoiling before you get the chance to eat it. SunnySide wants to help, with its solar-powered self-heating and -cooling lunchbox.

Keep your food cool and fresh for up to 20 hours. Even ice cream can be kept safe and cold. If you’re eating something that should be hot, the induction tech inside can warm things back up in minutes. You can reheat things up to 167f, up to seven times, before recharging.

Nasa X Interstellar Red 3.721 watch

Space travel will always be cool, and we’re barely getting started. Watches have been around for hundreds of years and will always be cool. Why not combine the two and get a watch with actual pieces of space rock in it?

These NASA-approved timepieces have small pieces of a meteorite that came from Mars, the red planet. You can choose two automatic movements, a Sellita with a golden second hand, or a Miyota with a red second hand. The Sellita also comes in a titanium case, with a titanium bracelet as an option.

Cyberpunk mini alley

Want a dope decor piece to liven up your boring bookcase? This cyberpunk alley is *ahem* right up your alley. Put a tiny slice of a dystopian city on your shelf, so you can have neon whenever you want.

Just look at the awesome detail. A tiny arcade machine, a seedy-looking motel that probably charges by the hour, some glowing green stuff. Awesome.

These are just a small selection of the currently-available crowdfunding campaigns this month. We’ll be back next month with more crowdfunded tech, gadgets, and toys.

Traditional mechanical watches can be a little boring these days, especially with the increasing popularity of smartwatches.

But CIGA Design is looking to break the mold of mechanical watches with its Magician (M-Series) watch.

The M-Series is a mechanical watch with a bit of a twist. Inspired by magicians, the M-Series offers a mix-and-match style combined with a modern-mechanical art style.

The CIGA Design M-Series Magician watch will launch on Indiegogo in August for a special, promotional price of $600-$900. If you wait until after that, the retail price of the watch will be $600-900.

So let’s see what it’s all about.

Revolutionary design

CIGA Design Magician M-Series traditional, analog watch inner case
Image: CIGA Design

The CIGA Design Magician M-Series is a traditional, analog watch. The inner case features a unique face with exposed gears and components.

It uses a hovering, rotating gear instead of a traditional seconds hand to stand out from traditional watches. The internal components of the watch feature a luminous design that helps the hands pop out in low light.

READ MORE: VANKYO Leisure 495W: The first Dolby Audio FHD 1080P projector

But what really makes the M-Series unique is the design of its outer case. Or should we say outer cases? The M-Series is actually designed to be three different watches in one.

The watch comes with three different detachable outer cases so you can change up the shape and style of the watch on the go.

And changing the cases is as easy as pressing two buttons on the side of the watch’s face.

CIGA-Design-wristwatch-green-background
Image: CIGA Design

The inner case of the watch is a traditional, round face, and you can go that route with the circular outer case. But if you want to change things up on the go, you can easily switch to a square outer case.

And if that’s not enough variation for you, there’s also a hybrid outer case that offers a more diamond-like shape for the face of the watch.

Whatever style you’re feeling for the day, the M-Series is able to adapt.

A unique take on the traditional wristwatch

CIGA-Design-Magician-M-Series

For anyone looking for a new take on the traditional style wristwatch, the Magician M-Series is a brand new design to look out for.

You’re essentially getting three different watches in one that you can adjust regularly depending on how you feel.

CIGA Design was founded by Chinese industrial designer Zhang Jianmin with the purpose of bringing a new, modern approach to old-school wristwatches for the new generations.

And the Magician M-Series is the latest step in the innovation of the classic timekeepers.

The Indiegogo campaign is set to go live in August where you can snag a Magician M-Series for $600-$900.

After that campaign is over, the retail price of the watch will be around $600-$900, so act quickly if you want to take advantage of that promotion.

Crowdfunding is a cool way for innovative products to see the light of day, without the restrictions placed on in-house development at large companies. It’s also a wonderful place to check out video games from small studios, movies, and campaigns for social good.

With all those campaigns competing for your attention, finding ones based on your interests can be tricky. Let KnowTechie do all the arduous work for you, with our picks of the crop for June.

So… with how many crowdfunding campaigns there are out there, how do you choose what to back?

That way, I can judge whether or not the campaign’s aspirations are within reach, which adds to my decisions.

I’m also picking campaigns with some time left to run, as it’s no fun finding out about cool campaigns after they’ve finished.

So, with all of that out of the way, here are some of the crowdfunding campaigns I’ve found worthy of attention in June:

Meazor 3D

We loved the previous Meazor device, and this one turns it up to 11. Instantly create 3D floor plans for your use, with this ingenious laser scanner.

You can scan walls, curved objects, check for levelness, and even measure curves with the rolling measure. It’ll replace all your other measuring devices, and it’s pocketable. With six hours of operational battery life, that’s a lot of floorplan creation.

CASE X

One of the biggest drawbacks to MacBooks is the lack of ports. Sure, Thunderbolt 4 is great, but you still need to lug a dock around to use most of your peripherals. Case X means your dock is always with you, with a nifty design that clips onto the back of your MacBook’s screen.

You get HDMI out, 2 USB-A, SD and microSD readers, USB-C 100W charging, cable storage, and up to 4TB of SSD storage if you opt for the Pro model.

Tend Deep tendon pain massager

You’ve seen all the deep tissue percussion guns, but this is different. This crowdfunding campaign from Tend Deep uses direct vibration to target specific tendons, or any other area with swelling, stiffness, or circulatory issues.

It’s tiny but effective, and rechargeable so you can take it anywhere. It’s also waterproof and uses body-safe silicone. Get the targeted recovery your tendons deserve.

Quill: World’s 1st Patented Color Picking Stylus with Alexa

There are tons of scanning tools to bring real-world colors into the digital realm, but this one is different. It’s the first stylus with that functionality, which makes it quicker to keep creating. An on-device LED shows the color you’ve picked, which is pretty cool.

It also means you don’t have to carry more devices around, as you can use the same stylus that you’re sketching with to grab the color you want. Quill also comes with Qube, which is part wireless charger, part clock, part Alexa smart speaker.

Petvation smart pet door

Using AI-powered cameras and sensors, this super-smart pet door opens up when it detects your pets. It’s basically a video doorbell that you don’t have to answer.

Ditch those dangerous magnetic collars, and enable your pets to come and go as they please – without worrying if wildlife will also find your home as inviting.

Scorpio home pizza oven

There’s a proliferation of home pizza ovens right now, which is only going to be good for your stomach. The Scorpio has one thing that the others don’t – a self-rotating 16-inch stone, for perfect heating without manually turning.

It took me a long time to figure out how to turn the pizza without tearing it, so this is a game-changer. Oh, and it’s dual-fuel, so you can get that wood-fired taste or the quick burn of propane.

Popur – a Quantum Leap in Self-Cleaning Litter Box

Cats are great, cleaning the litter box is not. Let Popur do all the stinky work for you, with the X5. It’ll automatically rake all the waste out, then dump it in an odor-tight bin. Let that sink in for a minute.

No. More. Daily. Scooping. Yeah, that’s a big deal. Oh, and it doesn’t rotate like the other guys, so it’s safer for your cat.

Feiyu Qing Pro smart electric tripod head

Photographers that like to shoot time-lapse or use any sort of motion control know that most current setups are bulky. That’s not great, especially when you need to carry them to out-of-the-way places to get the shots you want.

READ MORE: 10 awesome crowdfunding campaigns in August

This electronic tripod head crowdfunding campaign from FeiyuTech is above all compact and portable. The handle even turns into a remote control, so you can set up your camera and then wander around while you shoot.

Dygma Defy

Want a keyboard that you can configure to your own ergonomics? The Dygma Defy splits the normal keyboard arrangement into two, so you can position them where your arms are most comfortable.

The halves even have standard mounting holes on the bottom, so you can mount them onto your chair’s arms or wherever you want. Oh, and it’s got RGB, and programmable keys, and useful thumb clusters, with hot-swappable switches. Phew.

amofit S wearable for sleep

We could all do with a little better sleep, so it’s great to see all the new sleep tech that’s coming out. The AMOfit S stimulates your vagus nerve, which brings a whole ton of benefits that aren’t just better sleep.

It also improves stress, anxiety, memory, creativity, and restores your internal balance. AMOfit says studies have been done that also show this type of stimulation can delay “significant effects related to aging.” Whew, sign me up.

SnapGrip Magnetic Snap-on Camera Grip+Battery for your phone

Smartphone cameras are great these days. Do you know what’s not? The way you must twist your fingers to tap the shutter on screen. This crowdfunding gadget from Snapgrip magnetically attaches to your smartphone, giving you all the tactile grip of a DSLR.

READ MORE: 11 great crowdfunding campaigns to check out in September

That way, you can concentrate on the images you’re going to create, and not on if you are going to drop your phone. It also doubles as a power bank to wirelessly charge your phone. We love that.

The best crowdfunding campaigns to check out in May 2022

So… with how many crowdfunding campaigns there are out there, how do you choose what to back?

Well, I use a combination of checking out their campaign page, looking to see if any of the comments on their prior campaigns show dissatisfied backers, and companies I’ve already had successful pledge fulfillment from.

I’m also picking campaigns with some time left to run, as it’s no fun finding out about cool campaigns after they’ve finished.

So, with all of that out of the way, here are some of the crowdfunding campaigns I’ve found worthy of attention in May:

Duovox Mate Pro

Night-vision cameras are already kind of magical, but this one dials it up to eleven. The Duovox Mate Pro creates a 2K image in even the darkest of nights. Use it to capture wildlife, as a full-color dashcam, or as a handy companion to walk around at night.

READ MORE: 10 awesome crowdfunding campaigns in August

The Starvis sensor gives 5MP images, with an insane 22+ stops of dynamic range. That’s 12 stops more than the iPhone 13 Pro, or a full seven more than the Sony A7s iii mirrorless camera. Insanity.

Revopoint MINI: 3D Scanner with 0.02mm precision

3D printing is cool, but if you’re not skilled at 3D modeling, you’re stuck using source files other people have created. That’s fine if you just want to print things, but what if you want to recreate existing objects, like if something breaks and you want to print a replacement?

Well, you need a 3D scanner, like the Revopoint Mini. It’s perfect for scanning things smaller than a 500mm cube, or bigger than a 10mm one. With 0.02mm accuracy, even delicate items like coins, jewelry or tabletop miniatures can be replicated in minutes with no loss of visual fidelity.

AirHood

Most modern houses or apartments don’t have an extractor fan in the kitchen that goes outside. That means every time you cook, you’re spreading tiny droplets of grease and other cooking by-products all over your kitchen, or every area near your kitchen.

AirHood wants to help, with its portable extractor fan that filters grease, smells, and smoke every time you cook. Get the wireless version, it’ll be more usable for more cooking types, and the 180-minute battery life is ample.

MagStick

Got a MagSafe iPhone? You want a MagStick, the first MagSafe-compatible portable tripod. The tripod can be extended to 63.5 inches, and it’s a multifunctional selfie stick and tripod with a stable triangular base. Oh, and it’s got a standard 1/4-inch screw for action cameras or smaller mirrorless cameras.

You can use it with non-MagSafe phones too, just use the quick-clamp button to snap the jaws together. When done, there’s a one-push release so you don’t have to fight with clamps ever again.

Multo – your own kitchen farm

Food costs are on the rise, and vegetables are selected for their hardiness in transit, not for flavor. What if you could grow all the greens you want, inside your own home?

Multo’s personal indoor farm is here to fill that need. The expandable system can grow 20, 40, or even 60 plants at once, from zucchinis to radishes to microgreens. It uses a noiseless pump to use ebb and flow tech, to hydroponically grow you veg without soil.

The best part? You can grow year-round, so you always have veggies to eat without having to worry about if they’re in season or not.

VITURE One

Want some XR glasses for entertainment use but put off by the bulky, ugly sets on the market? VITURE knows your pain, and the VITURE One crowdfunding campaign was created to not only look good to the user, but to anyone who’s looking at them.

And if you were worried about power, don’t be. See, the One is preinstalled with the best cloud gaming apps, from GeForce Now to Xbox Live. Oh, and you can remotely play your console while you’re out of the house, how cool is that?

Mr Carve M3

Want a laser engraver to kickstart your home business, but don’t know where to start? The Mr Carve M3 crowdfunding campaign adds the ability to swap the head between IR and blue lasers to the all-metal build that Mr Carve is known for.

Featuring a huge 400 x 400mm build area, the M3 has linear guide rails for continuous motion. That should increase precision, speed, and lifespan over other engravers, which all sound important.

The cool thing? You can convert almost any image into a vector for engraving with a couple of clicks.

H&Y REVORING Swift: Magnetic Video and Photo Filter System

Any photographer or videographer can tell you (myself included) that using filters is a necessary evil. Necessary because you can’t get the shot you want without them. Evil because they’re an annoyance of badly-fitting threads, or never quite having the right size on hand.

H&Y wants to fix that with the Revoring Swift crowdfunding campaign. This modular, magnetic filter system makes it simple to stack as many filters as you want. Start with a Revoring, the adjustable filter that can be used on multiple thread sizes.

That’s one filter of your choice to start with, but then you can expand the bridge system. Add drop-in filters, rectangular graduated filters, whatever your creative needs, need.

GillyGro: A Sleek Backpack with Built-in High Chair

Parenthood is so much harder than anyone tells you beforehand. That’s not even including how much gear you find needing to carry at any one time. GillyGro’s backpack has room to store all the gear you need, but it’s so, so much more.

It’s a changing station, a picnic mat, or a napping spot. Oh, but the best thing? It folds out into a booster seat/high chair, so your littles always have a seat at the table.

Trexo Wheels

When you need a particular shot, it’s frustrating to not have the kit you need. Trexo’s new Wheels is an insanely capable camera dolly, that gets you the shot you need, every time.

Create complicated pathing, teach it the path you want then swap in a professional camera and have Wheels repeat until you’re happy. You can even turn it into a 360-degree turntable, for versatile product shots.
While you’re looking for filmmaking equipment, don’t forget Trexo is running a Kickstarter for a super-compact motorized slider, the Trexo Slider.

ICECO JPPro: A Mobile Fridge Doesn’t Need ICE

It’s getting hot out there, but that doesn’t mean your drinks have to be. This portable fridge uses a Secop compressor to keep the contents from -4℉ to 68℉, so you can even use it to make ice cream in.

Oh, and you won’t have to carry it to the beach – it’s got tough wheels and a pull rod so you can wheel it over rough trails. It’s even got a UV sterilization lamp, so you can rest assured it won’t harbor any nasty germs.

Check out these 12 awesome crowdfunding campaigns this month

So… with how many crowdfunding campaigns there are out there, how do you choose what to back? Well, I use a combination of checking out their campaign page, looking to see if any of the comments on their prior campaigns show dissatisfied backers, and also companies I’ve already had successful pledge fulfillment from.

READ MORE: Check out these 11 awesome crowdfunding campaigns in May

I also tend to stick to gadget areas that I know a bit about, like photography, cooking, maker tools, and writing implements. That way I can judge if the campaign’s aspirations are within reach or not, which adds to my decisions. I’m also picking campaigns with some time left to run, as it’s no fun finding out about cool campaigns after they’ve finished.

So, with all of that out of the way, here are some of the crowdfunding campaigns I’ve found worthy of attention in April:

Olive Max: 2-in-1 Adaptive Hearing Aid & Earbuds

We reviewed Olive Union’s last hearing aids and were pretty impressed. Now they are back, with the Olive Max crowdfunding campaign. Building on that core, this time around they’re 150-percent louder and suitable for up to a severe hearing loss. Adaptive Hearing tweaks the hearing profile based on your environment, which is a big addition. That leads to hearing voices more clearly, with reduced background noise.

Glambank

Everyone’s a creator these days, and every creator needs one thing – good lighting. Glambank and Glambank Pro are portable softboxes, for soft, smooth light wherever you are. Both models have up to six hours of use at max brightness, have fast charging, and are controllable via an app. Oh, and they do dual-duty as a portable power bank.

HydroArtPod

Growing your own food is cool, but it takes soil which is in short supply for most city dwellers. Take soil out of the equation with HydroArtPod’s wall-mounted hydroponic growing system. Grow lettuce, peppers, beans, almost anything you could want, with a self-watering, automatic system that can grow up to 30 herbs or vegetables at the same time.

Syncwire Magta

Got a lot of tech to charge up? Combo chargers are cool, but you often find you don’t need one of the charging methods they include. Magta fixes this with magnetic, stackable, modular components so you can build out the charger you need, not the one the company thinks you need.

The base has 15W wireless charging, two USB-C, two USB-A, and an AC plug. Then there are addons of a 3-in-1 charging stand for Apple devices including the Apple Watch, a two-sided magnetic wireless power bank, and a magnetic ambient lamp.

Arden: The INDOOR Pellet Smoker

It’s finally grilling season. What about all of you apartment dwellers who can’t grill because of leasing agreements? Well, bring the grilling inside with Arden. It’s a countertop smoker designed to keep all the smoke inside. All of the flavor, none of the fuss. The trays and racks are dishwasher safe too, so no greasy pans to scrub.

Lodge Solar speakers

lodge solar outdoor speaker in a flowerbed
Image: Lodge Outdoor

It’s nearly summer, which means it’s time to fill the air with music and the smell of bbq. Bluetooth outdoor speakers are great, but they all have one issue – battery life. Lodge has fixed that by covering its speakers with solar panels, so the 15 hour battery life never becomes an issue.

They can stay outside too, as they’re water and dust proof. As a nice touch, the stand is magnetic, so you can detach the speaker if you’re moving to another part of the yard.

MetMo Driver

Ever seen how a ratcheting screwdriver works? Well, now you have, as the MetMo driver hangs it all out so everyone can see. Welding a ratcheting screwdriver to a hand brace creates a unique tool that’s part fidget toy, part industrial, and all business. It’s even got a fold-down arm, so you can really get all of your body weight behind driving those screws or bolts all the way home.

CURA – 360-degree plant care

Indoor plants don’t always get the best conditions for growth. Either the lighting is wrong, or they’re watered incorrectly, or any number of minute issues that stop them from thriving. CURA fixes that with a hangable ring light for full-spectrum growth, that also integrates automatic watering. The best part? It can be used with any of your existing potted plants, so you don’t have to deal with the messy process of replanting.

Wallganize

We love gadgets here at KnowTechie, and we love gadget organizers even more. The Wallganize crowdfunding campaign sticks on your wall and provides magnetic organizing in the shape of productivity hexagons. Add to that magnetized accessories like pen holders, tissue boxes, and more, and you’ve got vertical space that’s no longer just taking up space.

Lumino

Want the most cyberpunk way to say “walkies” to your dog? This crowdfunding campaign is for you. The Lumino is an RGB leash handle. It’s designed to be comfortable to hold or hang on your arm, but there’s more. It has a hidden poop bag container, a flashlight, and a quick-release leash mount.

Decode everyday backpack

Some of us are starting to go back to the office, and that’s always a good time to buy a new bag. The Decode backpack is full of thoughtful touches, like stash pockets, and a uni-body design that collapses flat for easy storage. All kinds of clever velcro sections organize the inner pockets to your preferred layout, so no more crushing all your gear in a heap at the bottom.

Siphonysta Automated Siphon Coffee Brewing System

We love coffee, and we really love new ways to brew it and this crowdfunding campaign delivers. Siphonysta takes all of the hard work out of the usually complex siphon brewing process, so you get a perfect cup of joe in under four minutes. That’s less time than most electric kettles take to boil. Using blended steam and vacuum to brew, you get the best of your beans, customized to your personal tastes.

We all fantasize about the idea of smart gadgets with cool new features. But what if we say that there’s a smart guitar that brings alive the concept of a one-man guitar band and allows you to record high-quality music in real-time?

Yes, this is not a prototype but a real smart guitar. Team Mogabi has introduced the first-of-its-kind smart travel guitar, designed to solve the problems of the modern-day guitarist.

Mogabi’s new smart guitar is packed with power features that make it the most innovative guitar of all time.

Designed to perfection with a classic finish, Mogabi’s smart guitar is a foldable and elegantly compact guitar that you can carry along just about anywhere.

Whether you’re on a plane, train, taxi, or subway, you can bring along Mogabi with you without any hassle. It can be securely placed in a store, trunk, or overhead compartment easily.

What’s more – The smart guitar allows music enthusiasts to travel light because it is more than just a guitar.

Mogabi offers a built-in Bluetooth speaker so that you don’t have to worry about carrying a speaker separately and make sure that it is charged at all times when you step out. This also eliminates the stress of forgetting your speaker outdoors.

Mogabi comes in two different headstocks. Users can get it customized according to their needs. They can either opt for the classic regular style or the iconic round headstock depending on their interest and comfort.

The only difference between the versions is that of the overall look and feel without compromising on the quality and music output.

Interestingly, Mogabi’s pioneering self-record technology makes it a power product and the most preferred option for people who like to jam and vibe on the go.

This feature enables users to record the original sound with top-notch noise cancellation so you don’t have to worry about carrying and setting up an extra recording device.

Image: Kickstarter

The idea behind innovating Mogabi’s smart guitar came from a simple observation that a conventional guitar is too big and too heavy to carry around freely.

Moreover, the option of renting out a recording studio is not a viable option for everyone because of the expenses involved.

Another interesting observation that led to this product innovation is the fact that most musical inspirations come out of the blue. They can barge in anytime, while you are on a walk, a vacation, or even a business trip.

Unfortunately, you might not have a professional recording device handy with you at that point in time and the inspiration can just slip away. Mogabi’s recording system comes with 32 GB in-built memory that provides the ultimate solution to this problem.

With the newly developed Mogabi application, professionals, as well as budding and independent artists can enjoy various effects like music uploads, downloads, edits, mixing, music sheet editing, tuning, etc.

This consumer-centric feature will help broaden musical skills so that the proud owners of Mogabi get to share their favorite guitar tunes worldwide by utilizing the music cloud.

Not just this, the guitar is equipped with 2600mA Lithium-Ion batteries that can be fully charged within 3 hours and deliver a battery life of up to 6 consecutive hours. This means that users no longer have to struggle to find a power zone to recharge their battery now and then.

This makes Mogabi even more appealing for those who love to jam outdoors and never get bored of playing their favorite tunes.

While there are instances when you might want to spend some alone time while playing your guitar, there are surely moments when you feel like getting inspired by listening to the work of other players.

For such moments, users can try the mix-mode. The mix-mode helps you to seamlessly play duets and even quartets alongside your favorite artists.

All one needs to do is turn on the Bluetooth pairing mode and start jamming to the tunes according to their mood.

It is truly liberating when you don’t need to carry multiple devices like a mic, amplifier, or visit a recording studio to record your tunes.

With Mogabi, you can move around hands-free and register your authentic guitar tunes without any background noise or interruptions with just a touch of a button.

Recently, the portable guitar, with the world’s first technology of original-sound recording, was launched on Kickstarter and was fully funded in just one day.

The good news is that the backers will soon be able to enjoy the world’s first one-man guitar band and share their high-quality recordings with the world real soon.

Crowdfunding is a really cool way for innovative products to see the light of day, without the restrictions placed on in-house development at large companies.

It’s also a great place to check out video games from small studios, movies, and even campaigns for social good.

With all of those crowdfunding campaigns competing for your attention, it can be tricky to find ones based on your interests. Let KnowTechie do all the hard work for you, with our picks of the crop for March.

Check out these 11 awesome crowdfunding campaigns this month

So… with how many crowdfunding campaigns there are out there, how do you choose what to back? Well, I use a combination of checking out their campaign page, looking to see if any of the comments on their prior campaigns show dissatisfied backers, and also companies I’ve already had successful pledge fulfillment from.

So, with all of that out of the way, here are some of the crowdfunding campaigns I’ve found worthy of attention in March:

Buffalo Carts

Winter is nearly over, which means it’s the perfect time to stock up on essentials for grilling season. Those essentials are heavy, but there’s a solution. Buffalo Carts are electric-powered carts that can lug your stuff around the park, but that’s not the best thing. That’s the Buffalo Cart’s secret weapon, it attaches right to your vehicle’s trailer hitch. Yeah, no more trying to fit your cooler and all the other stuff into your car.

Novo Duffel

What’s the worst thing about going to the gym? Okay, the second-worst thing, after actually dragging your butt downtown. It’s that unmistakable funk that your gym clothes, shoes, and bag gets. Wanna destroy it? Novo’s duffel bag crowdfunding campaign kills any microbes inside it, by supercharging the air with ionized oxygen. That’ll kill bacteria, and most importantly, odor. Nice.

Keychron K8 Pro

Mechanical keyboards have experienced a Rennaisance lately, with more creators and enthusiasts than ever before. The Keychron K8 Pro brings something new to the table, with QMK and VIA support out of the box. If you don’t recognize those acronyms, that’s okay. It’s the names of the two most used firmware packages for programming your keyboard’s functions. Most custom keyboards come with one or the other, so seeing both supported by the factory is a big deal. The other cool thing? Bluetooth 5.1 so you can use it wirelessly if you don’t want to be tethered by USB-C.

Honbike

Ebikes are great, but they all have the same problem – they still use a greasy, dangerous chain to get power to the wheel. Honbike changes that paradigm, with a single-sided shaft system. Yes, no more dirty chain. No more chain to fall off the sprockets. Nothing but clean e-bike power. It’s also got a hill-assist, three sensors that work in harmony to tell if you’re going uphill or downhill, so you don’t get too much power, and it folds into a tiny space.

Lanmodo Vast M1

Night driving is hard enough, make it easier with this dashcam that has crystal clear vision after the sun has gone down. It’s got all the usual collision and parking monitoring that you’d want from a dashcam, packed into an 8-inch 1080p display. It can even see things you can’t, lurking out of reach of your high beams.

Pallate: get more out of your groceries

Want to make your fridge smarter, so you waste less food? Pallate’s system consists of a camera that scans the contents of your fridge, with custom weight sensors to track changes. That all feeds into an app that tracks everything from expiration dates to when you’re about to run out of milk. It can even reorder your groceries, or give you recipe suggestions. Food waste is a big problem in the US and elsewhere, maybe solutions like Pallate can fix it.

ELIoT, the living responsive wall

We could all do with more greenery in our lives, but anyone who’s had a houseplant mysteriously wither and die knows it’s not that simple for the less-than-green thumbs among us. ELIoT is a smart, wall-mounted planter that aims to get your plants in synergy with your space. It analyzes the environment you mount it in, and then suggests plants that can thrive in the conditions. Stop trying to fight your home, and get planting the greenery that works for you.

DUEX Max: The must-have dual-screen laptop accessory

What’s better than one screen on your computer? Two, of course, and Duex Max has you covered with its new crowdfunding campaign. The 14.1-inch Full-HD display magnetically attaches to the back of your laptop, so you can slide it out whenever you need the additional real estate for your work. All it needs is a USB connection to add a second screen to your laptop, which is perfect for anyone who prefers to be mobile.

Waterbear universal glass cleaners

Cleaning your iPhone’s camera lenses is one of the easiest ways to get great shots. Thing is, nobody wants to carry a bulky cleaner around. WaterBear is a teeny, tiny polishing cloth that can stick to any surface. Cling it to your iPhone and you’ll never be without a soft cloth to get it sparkling. Use it on your camera, or your glasses, or anything else that has glass that needs cleaning.

Eufy Video Smart Lock

Video doorbells are great, as are remote-controlled smart locks. Eufy’s Security Video Smart Lock crowdfunding campaign combines the two, so you get a doorbell, a video link, and a smart lock all in one package. Reclaim your precious space on the side of your front door today. It’s got fingerprint unlock, motion detection, a 2K camera, and a huge 160-degree field of view.

Emerge Home | Feel VR with your bare hands

If we’re all going to be living in the metaverse one day, we need better control methods. Emerge Wave-1 uses ultrasonic waves to recreate tactility inside virtual reality, so you can sort of touch what you’re seeing. Dispense with the confusing controllers, after all, touch is one of the first senses you use when born.

So, with all of that out of the way, here are some of the crowdfunding campaigns I’ve found worthy of attention in February:

Meazor

I’m going through the process of moving to a new home right now, and making floor plans to figure out furniture is a pain. This 6-in-1 laser measure from Hozo Design is exactly what I’d want in order not to lift another tape measure. It can scan your room and create a 2D floorplan, measure distances via laser, measure curves, serve as a protractor, be used as a bubble level, and even as a rolling ruler. Literally, all your home measuring needs in one little device.

WRAEK Tectonic Pro palm-controller

PC gamers have a wealth of controller options, but the humble keyboard and mouse combo still rules. The thing is, the keyboard was never designed to be used like that. Cramping your fingers to hit WASD for long stretches risks all kinds of issues.

WRAEK wants to help, with its Tactonic Pad controller. Looks like a touchpad and we all know those are terrible for gaming on. Don’t worry, it’s not. It’s a flat joystick, like a smushed Xbox thumbstick. Use it for anything you can think of, replacement of movement, triggering of abilities, camera control; the list is endless. Oh, and it’s good for productivity tasks too.

Slite – super portable light for better video

The quality of your video or photo content hinges on the quality of light you can capture. Slite wants to give everyone access to professional quality RGBWW LED lighting, so your content can shine.

Each thin, solidly built panel features magnetic mounting, app control, 16 million colors, and 55W of 96+CRI LEDs for accurate white light. You won’t need to find oddly-shaped batteries or chargers either, as Slite runs off USB-C, so you can use any battery pack or wall charger.

SEEKER Cycling Camera

seeker camera for bikes
Image: Seeker

We believe every car should have a dashcam these days, so why not your bike? The Seeker has a live rearview camera, so no more glancing over your shoulder. It also adds smart tail lights, 4K recording, and a nifty laser projector that puts anti-collision bike lanes around your bike at night, so other road users know to give you space. Link it to your smartphone and you get a dashboard view of your speed and other details like your altitude, as well.

Rezy Sofa: The All-In-One Sofa

We’re big fans of modular furniture with added extras, and this sofa has it all. You get multiple options for seat configuration, but all the options have the same core elements. That’s thick-as-heck cushions, springs, and webbing for support, tons of under-seat storage space, USB charging, AC sockets, wireless charging spots, cupholders, fold-out tray tables, and even ambient RGB lighting. Phew, with all that tech, you’ll never want to stand up again.

obode P8 all-in-one self-cleaning and mopping robot

Robovacs are great, taking all the hard work out of keeping your floors clean. Now you can get ones that mop as well, but they all have one problem – you still have to clean them or empty the dustbin.

Enter the obode P8, which is a dual vacuum and mop robot that also self-cleans as it recharges. What?!? It won’t just clean the mopping heads, it’ll fill the water tank and then use hot air to dry off the mopping heads, to avoid mold and other issues. Now that’s an innovative robovac!

Aerogogo PS1 air lounger

The worst thing about air loungers for me is inflating them. Hand pumps take forever, battery pumps are noisy, and using my lungs to inflate them simply isn’t an option. Aerogogo PS1 puts the pump inside the lounger, so you only have to tap a button to get it inflated. Nice. More time on the beach, and you get to save your breath for more fun activities.

iSwift roboarm phone holder

We all use our phones in the bathroom, even when we know we shouldn’t. iSwift is a modular arm to hold your phone so it doesn’t get wet. It’s MagSafe compatible, secure, sturdy, and adaptable to where you need it to be. Love to read in the tub? No problem. YouTube while you poop? Got that sorted. It’s even strong enough to hold your tablet!

G-Case all-in-one gaming case for the Nintendo Switch and OLED

Let’s face it, the Nintendo Switch isn’t the sturdiest handheld on the market. It really benefits from a case, but what if you could put on a case that includes all the other accessories you’d need? The G-Case crowdfunding campaign adds a 5,000 mAh battery for up to five hours more playtime, a wireless controller adapter, a dock, a tiny charging brick, different grip sizes, and more. Oh, and you can add Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX-LL, so your wireless headphones get the lowest latency possible.

Vinnic LiFePO4 power station

Power banks are cheaper and better than ever before. These two huge capacity battery banks from Vinnic either have 512Wh or 2000Wh of power for all your needs. That’s enough to run your house for hours or to top up your EV so you can get home. It can also charge all of your other devices several times over. They’re a smaller, safer alternative to gas generators, and can be recharged via solar panels.

arpara™: World’s First 5K Micro-OLED All-in-One VR Headset

With everyone talking about the metaverse, it’s worth noting that most VR headsets are pretty poor for visuals. Maybe arpara’s crowdfunding campaign will change things, with its 5K micro-OLED display. That’s a pixel count of 3514 pixels per inch, over seven times the pixel density of the iPhone 13. It’s lightweight, powered by the Qualcomm XR2 chip, and has up to a 120Hz refresh rate when tethered. Oh, and it’s ridiculously color accurate, with accuracy up to 127% of sRGB and 90% of the DCI-P3 space.

Krait modular power strip

Everything we use nowadays needs to be plugged into power, even if only long enough to charge its battery. The thing is, charging strips haven’t changed much at all. Krait wants that to change, with modular power strips that plug together for your charging needs. Grab an AC section that also has Bluetooth control over on/off, a DC section with GaN fast charging tech for smartphones and laptops, and a Source section with either a US, Japanese, or Taiwanese plug. The whole unit supports up to 1650W of power output and is packed with AutoShut tech so it can’t be overloaded.

Kara Pure: Make pure water from the air

With only 71-percent of the world’s population having easy access to clean drinking water, we need new solutions for future use. Not everyone lives in a place that can easily plumb in water lines. The Kara Pure crowdfunding project pulls water from the air, so it’s naturally clean and free of the usual bacteria that pollute our waterways. Sure, it’s expensive right now, but this tech could be a sustainable future source of water for millions.

Dwarf II portable telescope

Stargazing is great fun, but carrying large telescopes – not so much. Dwarf II solves your backache by using a periscope design, so it’s easily portable. That’s not all though, as the tiny telescope is powered by AI. That enables you to pinpoint celestial bodies and keep them in focus for some amazing photography. Oh, and it’s just as capable of taking pictures of birds, animals, or anything else you want to point it at.

There is absolutely no doubt in the fact that smartphones are the complete personal device for a variety of reasons that go beyond the ordinary.

Be it navigation, playing music, or communicating on the go, a smartphone with the right features and functionalities makes sure that all these tasks are accomplished while you are still driving.

This makes smartphones a very handy device to have when you are driving. But most drivers would agree that mounting the smartphone onto the dashboard or windscreen isn’t quite a pleasant experience. Moreover, damaging or forgetting to carry your cable to connect it with your car’s stereo makes the situation worse.

Ottocast has emerged to be the first company that has successfully built the first-of-its-kind smart adapter that allows drivers to use Wireless Android Auto and CarPlay on their in-built car stereo within 30 seconds.

The 2-in-1 wireless adapter provides a unique, smart, and user-friendly way to automatically integrate your phone to access content on your car’s bigger screen.

Wouldn’t it be cool to use Google Maps, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, Audible, and other infotainment apps, all with your phone resting in your pocket?

But why is it important for drivers to embrace wireless Android Auto and CarPlay? Touchscreen infotainment systems are not a luxury anymore; all you need is an in-car entertainment (ICE) system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to get going.

Many automobile manufacturers are realizing the convenience of providing this technology and are working toward providing factory-fitted systems compatible with the feature, even in smaller and affordable vehicles. Interestingly, there are also some motorbikes that come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible entertainment systems.

The issue is that the existing plug-and-play devices do not solve the problem of drivers completely. In an era of all things wireless, even ICE-compatible devices use a wire/cable to connect the mobile to the head unit.

READ MORE: Give your car wireless CarPlay and Android Auto with the AI Box Lite

This is a cumbersome process as drivers need to make sure that they are carrying the cable with them at all times, not to forget the hassle of constant wear and tear and the need to buy a new cable every few days.

The smart adapter by Ottocast makes it possible to turn wired Android Auto and CarPlay into a completely wireless experience in a matter of seconds.

We are delighted to be the pioneers in introducing the revolutionary smart adapter and strongly believe that it will largely benefit auto enthusiasts and drivers, in general, in terms of safety and convenience. We pledge to continue our efforts in developing groundbreaking technology easily accessible to the end-user and guide the industry to move forward in a smart and sustainable way,” says Yang Kong, Founder of Ottocast.

The groundbreaking project has recently published a crowd fundraising campaign on Indiegogo, with the aim to make this innovative device accessible to the masses and provide the most convenient and hassle-free driving experience while using the phone.

As the campaign goes live at 9 a.m. EDT on 14 December 2021, the good news for all those who want to grab their hands on the device is that Ottocast has already announced its plans to start shipping the device to customers from December itself.

What’s more- Ottocast is offering an exclusive discount of 50% for users who place orders within 72 hours of the launch event.

The revolutionary device comes with a 5Ghz WiFi for fast media transmission and works without the need to install a companion app on your smartphone.

So… with how many crowdfunding campaigns there are out there, how do you choose what to back? Well, I use a combination of checking out their campaign page, looking to see if any of the comments on their prior campaigns show dissatisfied backers, and also companies I’ve already had successful pledge fulfillment from.

READ MORE: Check out these 11 awesome crowdfunding campaigns in April

I also tend to stick to gadget areas that I know a bit about, like photography, cooking, maker tools, and writing implements. That way I can judge if the campaign’s aspirations are within reach or not, which adds to my decisions. I’m also picking campaigns with some time left to run, as it’s no fun finding out about cool campaigns after they’ve finished.

So, with all of that out of the way, here are some of the crowdfunding campaigns I’ve found worthy of attention in December:

SPINN CP.02

Anyone who’s used a DSLR or mirrorless camera knows the pain normal strap systems bring. For a start, they’re balanced on the top edge, which isn’t where the weight moves to when hung. SPINN fixes that by moving the strap mounts to the bottom edge; while adding an arca-swiss quick-release mount, that doesn’t block your battery door.

Revopoint POP 2

Want to scan real things into your computer, so you can 3D print them, turn them into 3d assets, or literally anything you can think of? Revopoint’s POP 2 has you covered. The best thing? It brings 0.1mm accuracy to a consumer price point, so the only limits are your creativity. Use it on a tabletop for small items, or handheld to capture larger things. Either way, you’ll get an accurate color scan that you can use.

Eilik – A little companion bot

Want a little AI companion to keep on your desk for when you’re procrastinating at work? Of course you do, and Eilik is ready to fill that want. He’s covered in touch sensors to respond to tickles or rubs, sensitive to vibrations, and afraid when you pick him up. Basically, he’s a robotic hamster that you don’t have to feed or clean, which is great. Oh, and he’s full of interactivity, useful functions, and loves to dance!

HUENIT – AI camera & modular robot arm

Huenit takes the modular robot arm to the next level, with a bevy of tools depending on what you need it for. Slap on the high-powered laser module for some engraving or cutting of thin materials. Put the 3D printer head on to bring your ideas to life. Use the suction tool to stack things or move them around your desk. It’s got a pen holder so it can sketch for you; and a user-customizable module that can hold your phone, stir your sauce, and more. Huenit can even do auto-tool changing. Oh, and an AI camera module that can do image or voice recognition, and a whole bunch of AI tasks.

BP Doctor MED

Want to check your blood pressure, whenever, wherever you are, without carrying around a bulky cuff? Strap YHE’s medical-grade blood pressure smartwatch to your wrist. It’s got 24/7 BP fluctuation monitoring, sleep analysis, health insights, and more, with 7-day battery life. Add notifications, call alerts, and all the other things you expect from a smartwatch, and you’ve got a powerful health monitor, right on your wrist.

Van der Waals – speaker with 9 inch ferromagnetic equalizer

Remember spending all your time watching the audio visualizations in Winamp? No? Just me? Ohhh, but you’ll love this Bluetooth speaker from Van der Waals. It uses ferrofluid to visualize your music, so the amorphous blob bops along to your jams. Two 15W tweeters and two 15W mid-bass speakers combine with a passive bass radiator to really pump out sound, and you’re gonna find yourself staring at that blob all the damn time.

JIRENO CUBE4

This portable “movie theater in a box” throws up a 1080p image wherever you are, with up to 500 ANSI Lumens, and inbuilt sound. It’s completely sealed so it can’t accumulate dust behind the lens, eliminating those annoying spots in your projected image. It supports HDR10+, decodes 4K streams into the 1080p projected image, and has the all-important autofocus.

Every Breathe clouds maker

It’s winter again, which means dry air, and dry everything else. Add some humidity back to your home with this cute little humidifier that creates interesting mini-clouds with every puff. Or you could just set it to make fog; as if it’s a misty morning on the hills. Your choice, your breath.

ROIDMI EVA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcpI3aQ0t1g

Robovacs are great, but you still have to manually clean the dust bin out, right? Fix that with the EVA, which combines a powerful robovac and mop, with a self-emptying base unit. It only needs emptying every 60 days, so that’s more time for you to do, well, whatever you want to. With 3200Pa suction and 12N pressurized mopping, let EVA take care of all the hard work.

TickrMeter

Want to keep track of your meme stonks? How about your favorite shitcoins, erm we mean cryptocurrency? TickrMeter uses an e-paper screen to show you your favorite stock ticker, all day, every day. It’s even got a green light to show gains, and a red light to show losses. Oh, and you can get it to cycle through up to 10 tickers if you prefer, or have it show random bullshit “inspirational” quotes. Stonks.

Nebulyft

Look, we’ve all been stuck inside for ages now and the salon is probably not a very safe place to be. Bring the salon home with one of these handheld anti-aging devices, that use RF energy and microcurrent to stimulate your skin to create natural collagen. That means tighter, firmer skin, and more time for smiling.

There you have it! Our favorite crowdfunding campaigns available in December 2021.

Crowdfunding is a really cool way for innovative products to see the light of day, without the restrictions placed on in-house development at large companies. It’s also a great place to check out video games from small studios, movies, and even campaigns for social good.

With all of those campaigns competing for your attention, it can be tricky to find ones based on your interests. Let KnowTechie do all the hard work for you, with our picks of the crop for November.

So, with all of that out of the way, here are some of the crowdfunding campaigns I’ve found worthy of attention in November:

Tuck Bike

Foldable bikes are great for commuters or as a way to stow in your trunk in case you decide to bike around, but they’re limited in how small they could fold because of their wheels. The usual solution is to use smaller wheels than normal bikes, but that makes for a suboptimal ride. The Tuck Bike fixes that by reinventing the wheel, making them fold in three sections. Those sections are made possible by Gecko‘s closed-cell rubber tires, which are even strong enough for aggressive jumps. That’s pretty darn cool.

Audeze Filter

Anyone who’s been on a call in a conference room has had to suffer poor audio quality, usually because the conferencing equipment isn’t great. What if you added Audeze’s award-winning planar magnetic technology to a conferencing speakerphone? Wouldn’t that sound great? What if the next thing you added was beamforming microphones that can be optimized for single-user or groups? Oh, maybe some noise-canceling? That’s Audeze’s new device, Filter, which is battery-powered with 15 hours of use per charge.

xTool M1 – Mini but Powerful Hybrid Laser & Blade Cutter

This maker-orientated campaign meshes a laser and a blade cutter into one machine, so you can create a huge number of things without needing more than one machine. Think of it as a Cricut with a laser, and you’re not far off. It can blade-cut leather, vinyl, paper, fabric, or iron-on transfers, or you can laser etch glass, metal, ceramics or shale, and cut through wood. It’s got two laser diodes at 5W focused at the same spot, essentially giving you 10W of cutting power in a tiny footprint. It also has a 16MP ultra-wide HD camera to enable image extraction from products to reproduce, and a whole bunch more.

High Six – the most compact 6in1 charging cable

Having to carry charging cables for all your tech is a pain, with even the best efforts leading to a tangled mess in your bag. Simplify that to a keychain, with High Six. It’s got a USB-C to USB-C foldable cable that slots inside a stainless steel shell (with a handy bottle opener!) to stay safe. That cable is rated to 60W power delivery (or 2.4A max if using an adapter), or 480Mb/s data transfer. You can then slot on adapters for USB-A, Lightning, or Micro-USB, which make you able to charge almost any device you own. Never be found without a charging cable ever again!

Elecjet Apollo Ultra

What’s the most annoying thing about power banks? Yeah, that trickle-charge recharging time. Say goodbye to having to wait for your power bank to recharge, with Elecjet’s Apollo Ultra. The 10,000 mAh battery uses graphene to enable an insanely quick 27 minute charge time. Yes, less than half an hour (confirmed with my own two eyes!). It charges at 100W from the wall, as long as your USB-C charger can handle it.

Output is up to 87W, with USB PD output over USB-C, PPS (Samsung Fast Charge) output, and a USB-A output for your non-USB-C devices. What’s more, it can last for 2,500 charge cycles, which is five times the usual lithium-ion battery used in these devices. Oh, and it’s only 246g, so it’s easy to carry around.

Dum Audio

Trying to build out a home stereo system can be confusing, so Dum Audio wants to take away all the guesswork from the equation. Their range has an integrated amplifier, turntable, speakers, and a subwoofer, all impeccably clad in metal and wood, and all priced at $499 for early-bird pricing (with an eventual $749 price when they hit the market). The amp has 100W RMS per channel and has 2 x RCA, 3.5mm, and Bluetooth as inputs. The subwoofer is 200W RMS with a custom 10″ driver and can be front- or down-firing, the speakers are 100W RMS with a 7″ aluminum cone woofer and 1″ silk tweeter, and the record player has a custom aluminum tonearm and a built-in bypassable phono pre-amp. Whew.

Tera 1000Wh solar power station

When you need power, even off-grid, this hefty power bank from Tera can be recharged via solar panels. You no longer need smelly, polluting, noisy generators when you’re off the beaten path and this 1,000 Wh battery is a beast to keep all of your lights and devices running. It’s got three AC plugs, two USB-A, two USB-C, two DC ports, a 12V car port, and can keep a mini-fridge going for 14 hours, or your phone a staggering 75 recharges. It can recharge via AC, car, gas, or solar, and it’s got pass-through charging so your devices can be charged without wearing down the battery.

Author Clock

We’ve seen all kinds of interesting ways of telling time in the tech world, but this is one of my favorites so far. The Author Clock uses passages from well-known books that seem to be all from the public domain, all of which mention a specific time. What a literary delight! You might end up with it sounding off at two o’clock, with a passage mentioning protagonist Jean Valjean waking up. Or The Great Gatsby announcing that it’s now nine o’clock. You get the picture. You can get a 4.6-inch screen that’s perfect for desktop or shelf use, or a 7.75-inch screen that’s great for wall mounting.

Vissles LP85 optical-mechanical keyboard

You don’t need to buy an expensive gaming laptop to get the best in keyboard technology anymore, as Vissles has put the same optical-mechanical keyboard switches into a low-profile keyboard that wouldn’t look out of place next to your iMac. The LP85 is a 75-percent form factor that sticks those slim keyboard switches into a solid aluminum frame, with 19 different RGB modes. It weighs just 1.2lbs, has an N-key rollover, and each switch has a 50g actuation force with super-fast 0.2ms response times.

Pact: World’s first full-feedback smart massager

Massages (or massage guns) are a great after-exercise tool to aid in muscle recovery, but they can be a bit heavy-handed. Pact wants to fix that, with a smart massage gun that takes into account your muscles’ conditions, just like a personal trainer would. You first scan your muscles with the Pact Sense device, which measures things like stiffness and muscle mass, with over 5,000 measurements per scan. That data gets crunched and recommendations are sent to the Pact Pulse massage gun, either as a warm-up or recovery routine. The upshot? Say goodbye to muscles that feel worse after your massage.

KORU purifier and plant pot

Plants are great, so are air purifiers, especially while we’re all spending more time indoors. The thing is, most air purifiers look like plastic trash bins, and probably deserve to be thrown in one. Koru hides the air purifier inside a plant pot, so you get pleasing greenery, a stylish pot, and clean air. That’s amazing. What’s even more amazing is the automated plant care, with Koru automatically watering your plant. You also get a nice, diffused ring of light around the plant pot, so you can use it as a find-your-way-to-the-bathroom light in the middle of the night.

I also tend to stick to gadget areas that I know a bit about, like photography, cooking, maker tools, and writing implements. That way, I can judge if the campaign’s aspirations are within reach or not, which adds to my decisions. I’m also picking campaigns with some time left to run, as it’s no fun finding out about cool campaigns after they’ve finished.

So, with all of that out of the way, here are some of the crowdfunding campaigns I’ve found worthy of attention in October:

BBalance

Would you use your bathroom scale more if it didn’t look like a scale? That’s the question BBalance wants to answer with its smart bath mat. By stepping on the mat daily, it builds up a picture of your body’s weight, composition, and even balance. It can measure between 10kg and 200kg and even track your kid’s foot size because we all know how hard it is to accurately measure that normally. All of your data lives securely in the app until you want to view it, so there’s no daily stress if you only want to know your weekly progress towards your goals, even if you measure daily.

Splay expandable display and pico projector

Want a portable, second screen for your laptop that you’re not worried about breaking in your bag? Splay uses a pico projector to rear-project onto a 24.5-inch screen, so you get a second display without fragility. You can also use the 1080p projector to throw up an 80-inch screen on the wall whenever you want to present your work to others. It’s got auto keystone correction, can last four hours on one charge from the internal battery and connects to anything via HDMI.

Barbechef

The weather is starting to turn now, and that means the end of grilling season. Or is it? Move the grill indoors with this smokeless, infrared indoor grill from Barbechef. Get that same chargrilled flavor from the comfort of your countertops on meats, veggies, and anything else you feel like grilling. It’s also got rotisserie and skewer attachments, so you can get your favorite ways to prepare meat, all by plugging in the grill.

So Pro smart ring

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68h-NJFV9QI

We all want to put our devices down more often, and the So Pro smart ring might just help you do that. Leave your phone on the charger or stand, and use the So Pro ring to scroll through your feeds, ebooks, or even take selfies without having to touch your phone. You can even use it as a presenter for that next big presentation at work.

Pupsule

Man’s best friend is always your best friend until it’s time for poop scooping. There’s just no elegant way to clean up after your favorite furry friend, until now. Pupsule grabs their business for you, then holds it inside the capsule until you’re next to the poop bin and can dispose of it without getting your fingers anywhere near that stinky package. Oh, and it’s got its own bag dispenser inside, so no more “oh shit” moments when you realize that you don’t have a piece of plastic in your pocket.

Rolley+ by Scooterson

Ever thought the current crop of escooters isn’t cool enough? What about if I told you there was an escooter with extra fat tires, so you can cruise your way down the block, the beach, or pretty much everything in between? Rolley+ has a 30-mile range, a 20 MPH top speed, a swappable battery so you can lug another 30 miles range with you, and automatic headlights to stay safe if you find the light fading faster than you are. It’s also got anti-theft features, GPS to track it, and you can use Face ID or fingerprint sensors to lock and unlock it to ride off into the sunset.

Unagi Model Eleven

Think escooters all have bone-crushing rides? Check out this dual-suspension, dual-motor scooter from Unagi, the Model Eleven. It’s designed by famed industrial designer Yves Behar and features long carbon fiber construction to make it one of the lightest full-suspension scooters on the market. Both motors are rated at 500W, and it has puncture-proof tires, removable batteries, and a ton of smarts.

Yes, this scooter has an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) that can rival some of those on production cars. It knows if you’re coming to a stoplight, stop sign, person, car, or another inanimate object, and will signal the rider to stop. Oh, and it has turn-by-turn navigation. How’s that for the daily commute.

Haxson smart airfan

Want a kid-safe, smart fan that also purifies the air you breathe? Of course you do, and now you can have it with the Haxson smart fan. It’s not just using HEPA-rated filters, though, as the fan has UV-C to keep the filter from getting nasty. It also features a heater, Alexa support, a light, a Bluetooth speaker, and an alarm. It’ll basically replace everything you keep on your bedside table while keeping your sleep undisturbed by dirty air.

MyPetGo

Keep track of your family pets with MyPetGo, which adds worldwide tracking, measures your pet’s vital signs, while also tracking their activity so you know if they’re getting enough exercise. Get notifications if they stray outside of your yard, and see exactly which direction to go to retrieve them with the inbuilt ‘radar’ tracking. You’ll even see heatmaps of where your pet loves to be the most, so you can adjust where their bed is or spend more time around them when they’re lounging in their favorite spots.

Bodo modular charging station

Bodo gives all of your devices a home to charge on your desk, without taking up all of your desk space. Snap on the chargers you need for your devices onto the power board, and then decide if you want other accessories like a ring light to help you put your best face forward in those never-ending Zoom meetings. Choose from the essential set, or build out your Bodo to include things like an adjustable stand to get your devices to whatever height you want them at.

MOFT smart desk mat

If you want a mobile workstation that can keep all of your devices organized while being stylish enough to keep out when company comes over, check out MOFT’s latest creation. It’s adjustable so you can use it as a lap desk or desk organizer, has magnetic accessories to hold your cables, Apple Watch, books, tablets, your iPhone, or memos; and has two inbuilt customizable NFC tags that you can use to shift your devices into focus mode, or any other mode you have set in popular apps like Pomodoro. Oh, and you can shift all of your devices to the same angle in seconds, keeping you in the zone while shifting your perspective.

There you have it, some of our favorite crowdfunding campaigns for October!

With all of those campaigns competing for your attention, it can be tricky to find ones based on your interests. Let KnowTechie do all the hard work for you with our picks of the crop for September.

Check out these 15 awesome crowdfunding campaigns this month

So… with how many crowdfunding campaigns there are out there, how do you choose what to back? Well, I use a combination of checking out their campaign page, looking to see if any of the comments on their prior campaigns show dissatisfied backers, and also companies I’ve already had successful pledge fulfillment from.

So, with all of that out of the way, here are some of the crowdfunding campaigns I’ve found worthy of attention in September:

ELEGOO Jupiter: 12.8″ 6K Mono MSLA 3D Printer

We love 3D printing here at KT, but the one thing we all agree could be better is the build volume. I mean, sometimes you just want to print lifesize skulls or other huge models in one go. Well, now you can, with the Elegoo Jupiter MSLA printer. It’s got a 277.484 x 156.06 x 300mm (roughly 11″ x 6″ x 12″) build volume, inside an all-metal structure that’s packed full of thoughtful touches that will make printing a breeze. These include an automatic resin feeding system for those huge prints, internal LED lights for checking printing status, and a mini air purifier to scrub that stank out of your air.

Feiyu Pocket 2S

Mini cameras are getting more and more advanced, with the new crop coming with physical stabilization in the form of gimbals. The team at Feiyu thought that the gimbal would be even better if it could be detached from the heavy battery grip, so you could mount it for unique filming perspectives. Enter the Pocket 2S. The 4K gimbal-mounted camera can be magnetically attached to anywhere, leaving your hands free to control it with the remote. Just think of the creative possibilities!

Elevoc Clear noise cancelling earbuds

True wireless headphones with active noise cancellation (ANC) don’t have to cost an arm and a leg anymore. Elevoc Clear has three noise-canceling systems onboard, so you’ll have no troubles hearing, or being heard. Environmental Noise Cancellation backed with Vocplus, Elevoc’s custom AI-powered voice capture system, means you won’t have to struggle to be understood on calls, even in noisy environments. Added to that, ANC tunes out the sounds going into your ears, so you can focus on what’s important to you.

myFirst Insta Wi | HD Camera with Inkless Printer and Label

Want to get your little one their first camera, but are put off by the insane price of the instant-print film? myFirst’s Insta Wi uses thermal paper to print off its snaps, so you never have to worry about ink costs. The 12MP front and selfie cameras can even take 1080p video, so your little creative can experiment with their art. There are multiple useful frames and filters available inside the camera, and they can print their creations off in less than ten seconds. Oh, and as it’s a thermal printer, you can use it to create labels for all their stuff as well. Nifty.

Nest Brush

https://youtu.be/02-CoNVOHrc

Brushing your teeth just got easier with Nest Brush. The silicone brush has a magnetic holder that uses UV-C to disinfect your brush after every use and has a hidden superpower. An internal, refillable toothpaste reservoir that automatically dispenses your favorite toothpaste onto the bristles. It can hold about 30 days of toothpaste, so you don’t have to pack extra when you travel. A two-month battery life rounds out the full package.

QuietOn 3 – ANC earbuds for sleep

Ever used a white noise generator to help you sleep? Did you know that could be aging your brain? There’s a better way, and that’s to remove background noise completely, with active noise-canceling (ANC). QuietOn’s latest ANC earbuds are designed for sleep use, with tiny buds that won’t press on your ears even if you’re a side sleeper. They’re perfect if you sleep with a heavy snorer or if you live near things like the subway or busy roads. With 28 hours of battery life, enjoy the tranquility and finally get a good night’s sleep.

Tosy flying disc

Love Ultimate Frisbee? You’ll love the Tosy Flying Disc, with its super-bright RGB LEDs and onboard timer to make contested turnovers a thing of the past. The 175g disc is currently in the process of getting official approval from USA Ultimate, so maybe you’ll see it on the pitch in the future. That’s not all you get, though, as Tosy put all the glow into a disc-shaped boomerang that you’d have to really work to lose. No, really, since it always comes back. Gettit?

SofabatonX1-Most Versatile Universal ALL-IN-ONE Smart Remote

With Logitech discontinuing its own Harmony universal remotes, there’s space for a new contender to fill the market. Could the Sofabaton be that contender? It’s an all-in-one remote for almost all your tech, compatible with over 500,000 devices. Add one-tap macros for complicated strings of command, like closing your blinds, turning on your TV, turn on your amplifier, and more, so you don’t have to spend five minutes turning on devices every time you want to watch something.

Oh, and the hub has IR, Bluetooth, and WiFi control modes, so you don’t even need to have the remote in the same room. Nifty.

Inmo Air AR glasses

Augmented Reality is pretty darn cool, but the current crop of headsets is bulky and pretty unusable outside of the lab. Inmo Air is here to challenge your assumptions with integrated AR inside glasses that aren’t much larger than any pair of chunky frames. They use a 720p camera and AI recognition to provide context to the world around you, from visualizations of navigation directions, streaming video, or anything else you could do on your Android smartphone.

Nextube nixie clock

We love classic Nixie tubes here at KT, so these reimagined-for-the-digital-age versions from Rotrics got us all hyped up. They use tiny IPS screens to recreate the Nixie warm glow, but because they’re little screens, you can use them for literally anything else you want to display on them. Use it for the weather, your subscriber count, or even put them into the music-reactive mode to visualize your tunes… on your tubes. Neat.

PlateZ

When you start looking for camera accessories, the first thing you notice is that most are purpose-built for one task. That means buying multiple things to do the things you want, or does it? Platez combines ten tools in one, so you can buy once then buy individual tools if you grow out of its functionality. Use it as a stabilizer, a tripod, a low-slung handle, a shoulder-rig, a tripod, a Gorillapod, and more, so you can worry about your creative vision and not swapping hardware constantly.

Airbox: World’s First True Wireless Power Bank For Apple

Want a wireless charging bank for all of your Apple gear? Airbox is here to recharge your AirPods, iPhone, Apple Watch, and Apple Pencil, while still charging your iPad with 20W fast charging. With a 10,000 mAh battery onboard, you’ll never run out of juice again. What’s more, when closed, Airbox has storage pockets for your Apple Pencil and AirPods case, so you don’t have to worry about losing them in your bag.

MagFlött: iPad Magnetic Stand and 6′ Curved USB C

Want your iPad or iPad Pro to look even more like an iMac? This sweet floating stand raises your tablet up for better FaceTime, better ergonomics for gaming or working, and reclaim some desk space. It’s the perfect companion for using Universal Control to add a second screen to your Mac or MacBook, and the solid aluminum looks every bit as premium as your iPad.

CZUR LENS Pro – Ultimate Document & File Scanner

With another year of remote working and schooling, it’s time to think about upgrading your office equipment. Who needs a bulky flatbed scanner when the CZUR Lens Pro makes it so easy to scan documents of any kind, even pages from books that are normally a pain to digitize. It’s also got a 12MP, 1080p camera so you can flip it up to use as your webcam for video calls, and it’s also a desk lamp that can help out lighting you for calls.

JMGO U2 Tri-color 4K laser TV

Want a 100-inch TV without having to actually have a 100-inch TV sitting in your room when you’re not using it? This 4K short-throw laser projector can give you a 100-inch effective screen from less than 10 inches from your wall. It’s got all the Dolby audio goodness you could want, auto-brightness adjustment, eye protection so it shuts off if anyone gets too close, and uses a tri-color laser for stunning visual quality. It’s rated to a stunning 114% of the BT.2020 color gamut, which is higher than IMAX requires, so your living room is gonna be the place to be once installed.

In just five minutes, Anycubic Photon Ultra, the first consumer-level DLP 3D printer, reached its Kickstarter goal for the first time. A little more than an hour later, it broke through $1 million.

According to the latest data, the project has received $1.58 million in pledges as of the time of this writing. 29 days remain until the end of the project on October 15. One of the reasons the Anycubic Photon ultra is so popular is that it satisfies users’ need for higher precision and maintenance-free 3D printers.

Known for its resin 3D printers, Anycubic 3D printers have been popular with 3D printing enthusiasts, makers, artists, and designers, especially the Anycubic Photon Mono X 3D printer.

Tom’s Hardware, Techradar, Tom’s Guide, etc. have all recommended it. Forbes recently also recommended the Mono X in its piece titled “The 7 Best 3D Printers Will Let You Manufacture The Future From Home.”

Anycubic continues to build upon the success of its Photon series with the launch of Photon Ultra. As Ian Stokes from TopTenReviews says:

“The AnyCubic Photon Ultra is a fantastic resin printer that offers amazing quality prints at a competitive price. It’s built to a high standard and it’s extremely easy to use, and the end results are fantastic. The build plate might be a bit small for some users, but for everyone else this is a great buy.”

“We are always listening to our customers. And we are working hard to propelling our product performance to meet customers’ increasing strict criteria for printing quality,” says James Ouyang, Vice President of Anycubic in a recent press release.

Let KnowTechie do all the hard work for you, with our picks of the crop for August.

Check out these 13 awesome crowdfunding campaigns this month

So… with how many crowdfunding campaigns there are out there, how do you choose what to back? Well, I use a combination of checking out their campaign page, looking to see if any of the comments on their prior campaigns show dissatisfied backers, and also companies I’ve already had successful pledge fulfillment from.

So, with all of that out of the way, here are some of the crowdfunding campaigns I’ve found worthy of attention in August:

Deco Voice X20 WiFi 6 system

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBy7HjYXi1M

WiFi 6 is great for uninterrupted, fast whole-house WiFi coverage, but what if it could be better? TP-Link’s new Deco Voice X20 isn’t just an AX1800 WiFi 6 mesh network, it’s also doing dual duty with Alexa built into each node, so you get voice assistance and the ability to play music, notifications, or anything else you’d do with a smart speaker.

That’s pretty smart, removing your need to find multiple plug sockets, saves shelf space, and the Deco nodes are pretty enough you’ll want to keep them in the open. The system has been tested with no slowdowns when 150 devices are connected, perfect for our modern smart homes.

Sidekicks.ai

Ever wished you could have a holographic assistant, like Cortana from the Halo series? Now you can, with Sidekicks.ai. Choose one of the pre-designed Sidekicks or design your own, so you can have a chatty, knowledgeable AI companion to be your sidekick.

If you’ve got a 3D printer, you can print your own enclosure for the patented lens that turns your smartphone into a holographic projector. If not, don’t worry – you can buy enclosures from Sidekick, which either still need your smartphone or have all the necessary electronics to project your Sidekick onto the lens. What a great way to repurpose an old smartphone you don’t use anymore!

Drinkie

We all care about our pets, right? I mean they’re literally family. You wouldn’t let family drink stale water, so why do we still have static water bowls for our pets? Drinkie is here to fix that, with its automatic dispensing water bowl, that not only dispenses clean water on demand but also rinses any muck into a collector tank so every sip is fresh and clean.

It can hold three liters of water, so that’s enough for five days before you have to refill it or empty the wastewater tank. We’re not saying you should go on holiday without someone to check in on Fido though, that’s still worth arranging before you go.

ChonkerKeys

Okay, a show of hands – who keeps hitting the wrong controls while they’re in video calls? With how ubiquitous video conferencing tools like Zoom are in our modern life, there’s got to be a better way than remembering confusing keyboard shortcuts or UI positions that change in every program.

Enter ChonkerKeys, a USB macropad designed specifically to handle the most common features on video calls. Those include screen sharing, mute, turn on/off video, thumbs up, and even Leave Meeting. The larger ChonkerKeys even has buttons for recording or media controls, making it even more usable. Oh, and if you find you’re not using video calls all the time, you can swap the larger Leave Meeting out for three assignable keys. Neat.

Bolstr elements

Love having your everyday carry on you, but hate hefty bags or your pockets being weighted down? Maybe Bolstr can help, with its handy range of slings. Let’s face it, once you’ve grabbed your phone, keys, wallet, earbuds, and maybe sunglasses, your pockets are already bulging like a chipmunk’s cheeks in harvest time.

There’s the Mini, which is perfect for everything but your smartphone unless you’re a Palm user in which case it’ll slide right in. The Aux, which is big enough to stash your smartphone as well, and the Small Carry, which can carry both of the other two, plus more, as it’s somewhere between a sling and a laptop bag.

Fjorden camera controls

Your iPhone can get some stunning photographs now but the default controls are kinda awkward to use. Maybe Fjorden can help, by bringing proper physical controls to the iPhone’s camera. It’s got a two-stage shutter button, a control dial that can be customized to your liking, a multifunction button, and a physical zoom switch for either zooming or switching between the iPhone lenses.

It’s also got a professional-level companion camera app, that either lets you run in full auto with the iPhone in control or take over granular control over your camera’s parameters. Oh, and the phone cases are MagSafe compatible and also work with Moment’s M-Mount lenses. Neat.

Roidmi A100 hair dryer

https://youtu.be/EnjOQ7DrmHU

Need to use a hairdryer but hate the bulky, hair-overheating models that are on the market? Roidmi’s A100 changes the paradigm with a superfast motor that pulls in air from the bottom of the handle, so it’s well away from risking catching your hair as you dry it.

It’s got three heat settings, two wind options, releases negative ions to neutralize static cling, and it’s less damaging to your hair as it relies on faster airflow not heat to dry. Oh, and the temperature is continually measured and the heating element adjusted, so it doesn’t get runaway heat the longer you use it.

Firewalla Purple

Every time you connect to a public WiFi network, like at a coffeehouse or in a hotel, you open yourself up to all sorts of security risks. Shut those off before they become an issue with Firewalla Purple. It can block ads at the source, protect your DNS queries from prying eyes, and more.

It comes with robust parental controls, per-country IP blocking, Safe Search, an inbuilt VPN server, and a VPN client. It also uses advanced heuristics to figure out your network’s baseline, then prevents attacks before they happen, notifying you of any unusual behavior. Basically, it’s got all the tools you need to keep your network safe.

Steelix – the 4-in-1 EDC 100W cable

It’s a fact of life that the more tech you have, the more trouble you have finding the correct cable for charging or data transfer. I mean, there are so many connectors now. Steelix gives you multiple cables in one, with support for either 60W or 100W (on the Steelix Pro) USB-PD charging. It can be USB-C to USB-C, USB-C to Lightning, USB-A to Lightning, or USB-A to USB-C, thanks to some clever endcaps that add Lightning and USB-A to either end of a USB-C to USB-C cable.

Pair it with another device from Tegic, the 10,000 mAh $70 Block 30, and you’ll never be caught with a flat battery again. It’s got 30W fast charging, both when charging your devices and when recharging the internal battery, an alloy casing, and a neat tempered glass window that shows the charging circuit board off. Use code: Tegic20 until the end of August to get 20-percent off the Block 30, or anything else in the Tegic storefront.

OneLife X plasma air purifier

We’re all staying indoors more these days, so a good air purifier is an essential household item. The thing is, the quality purifiers have expensive filters you have to replace. Not so with the OneLife X, which uses plasma tech to filter your air without creating ozone.

It can zap particles that are 30x smaller than those the best HEPA filters can handle, and all it needs is the filter plates washing (even in the dishwasher!) every so often to go back to peak efficiency. Oh, and because it doesn’t have to pull air through a thick filter, it’s more energy efficient and doesn’t restrict airflow, while running near silently.

Erazor – The Revolutionary Ceramic Blade Portable Shaver

Ditch your shitty metal razors with Erazor, with its ceramic blades that don’t need sharpening, and will stay rust-free for years of shaving. It’s portable, cuts closer than the competition, and can save you hundreds in razor costs over the five years the blade should last.

Stick it under running water to clean it, don’t worry about recharging it thanks to 60 days of battery life, and there’s even a safety lock so it won’t accidentally go off in your suitcase.

FlipPack

Hate fishing for stuff in your backpack? How about fishing for the zipper to even get into your backpack’s pockets? Flippack fixes this with innovative magnetic closing flaps on the side pockets, so you can get to your stuff with no fuss.

It’s got quick-adjust straps, for the perfect fit every time, and the entire front of the backpack zips off, so no more hunting around from a tiny opening for your gear. It can fit a 16-inch laptop, an 11-inch tablet, and collapses flat for storage or travel.

Oh, and it’s got a TSA-approved lock, with a rebound coil so you can use it to secure your backpack from snatch thieves.

Chargeasap Flash Pro and Flash Pro Plus

It’s a fact that power banks have become indispensable as we add more gadgets into our daily lives. Chargeasap has a couple of new ones on Indiegogo right now that are specifically tailored for either Android (Flash Pro) or iOS (Flash Pro Plus) users, to provide power to all of their devices.

The 25,000 mAh Android-focused Flash Pro can charge laptops at 100W, or their smartphones at 15W with the wireless charging pad. That pad is also MagSafe compatible. It’s also got 3 USB-C PD ports and one USB-A port, so you can charge 5 devices at once, even while recharging the power bank. That USB-A port is 50W, with compatibility with fast charging from Oppo, OnePlus, Vivo, and Huawei.

The Apple-focused Flash Pro Plus is the same specs as the Flash Pro, with the addition of another 5W wireless charging pad for Apple Watch use. Both models also have an OLED display that shows volts and amps, so you know exactly how much charge you have left and how long until it will run out.
