This week, Google announced a long-awaited feature which will make our lives a lot easier. Now, how many times have you used Google Maps while you were out and accidentally went in the wrong direction because you couldn’t understand the orientation of Google Maps? Well, worry no more.

Google announced that one of the newest features to be added into Google Maps will be the ability for users to see arrows and directions displayed in real-time in your surroundings while holding up your phone.

The feature is augmented reality-powered and called ‘Live View’.  The new feature started rolling out for Non-Pixel users earlier this month, but it’s possible your phone hasn’t received the update just yet.

Here’s how to use the new Google Maps AR feature

If you want to try out the new feature for yourself, here’s how:

  1. Open the Google Maps app on your phone
  2. Search up your destination
  3. Press the “Directions” Button to make a route from you to your destination
  4. Choose the “Walking” Directions which will be indicated by a stick figure
  5. If the feature is available for your phone, you will see an option to launch ‘Live View’ located next to the “Start” button.
