They’ll be audio-only though.

Twitter is finally adding the option to bring guests onto your livestreams, with the ability to add up to three audio-only participants.

This should be awesome for broadcasters, allowing the flexibility to do things like live talk shows, or even have voice-chat Q&A sessions with fans.

Here’s how to do it

If you want to know how to add guests to your livestreamed Twitter soliloquies, it’s pretty simple. All you need is the Twitter app on your phone, and a bit of guidance to which menu options to press:

  1. First, make sure that the tickbox next to the option for Connect to Periscope is selected in your Twitter app. That’s in Settings > Privacy and safety > Live Video > Connect To Periscope. Without this, the option to go Live won’t appear in the newly redesigned Twitter camera.
  2. Open the Twitter camera (either by pressing the Tweet button > Camera or by swiping left on your home screen)
  3. Switch over to Live from Capture, then tap the Faces icon next to the Go LIVE button, which lets you turn Guests on or off

  4. Once you’re live, guests can ask to be added to the broadcast by tapping on the Faces icon

  5. Double-tapping on the face icon of the requesting guest will add them to the broadcast, after a 5-second countdown

  6. You can easily remove a troublesome guest by tapping the X on the top right of their avatar

Just remember – your audio will be heard by anyone watching the livestream, not just the host.
