Overall

In the world of hi-res music streaming services, a few big names tend to dominate the conversation.

Tidal, Spotify, and Qobuz are just three of the most popular options, with most music lovers pointing out that Qobuz beats the competition. But is Qobuz really worth it?

Personally speaking, yes, Qobuz is worth it. The streaming service offers a great selection of hi-res music, with a user interface that makes it easy to find the songs you want to hear.

The sound quality is excellent, and the Qobuz app is available for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android devices.

So, is Qobuz the best music streaming service? Let’s dive in and see how it stacks up against its competition.

Qobuz Pros

Qobuz offers many great features that appeal to audiophiles and music lovers alike. Here are some of the service’s biggest selling points:

Hi-Res sound quality: One of the main reasons to sign up for Qobuz is its stellar sound quality.

The company offers lossless FLAC streams at up to 24-bit/192kHz, which is about as good as it gets when it comes to streaming music.

If you have a nice set of headphones or speakers, Qobuz’s hi-res streams will definitely make them sound better.

Availability of rare and hard-to-find tracks: If you’re a fan of niche genres or rare tracks, Qobuz is worth checking out.

The company has one of the deepest catalogs of any music streaming service, with millions of songs available to stream and download.

User-friendly interface: Another big selling point for Qobuz is its user interface, which is clean, simple, and easy to use.

The company’s desktop app is especially well designed and makes it easy to find the tracks you’re looking for–whether you’re searching by artist, album, genre, or even mood.

Reliability: As one of the lesser-known streaming services, Qobuz is seldom overwhelmed with too many users, which means it tends to be extremely reliable.

Other streaming services can often crash due to excessive use. For example, Spotify is often down, which will unquestionably annoy its users.

Free 30-day trial: Last but not least, Qobuz offers a free 30-day trial to try out the service before you commit to a subscription. That’s a great way to see if Qobuz’s hi-res sound quality is worth the extra money.

Qobuz Cons

Of course, no review would be complete without mentioning a few drawbacks. Here are some things to keep in mind before signing up for Qobuz.

No smart speaker integration: Qobuz doesn’t work with any smart speakers, like the Amazon Echo or Google Home.

So if you’re looking fr a music streaming service that you can control with your voice, Qobuz isn’t the right choice. However, it does work with smart TV systems like Samsung TV and Chromecast.

qobuz doesn't work with alexa or google home, but it works on smart tvs like samsung TV or Chromecast
Image: KnowTechie

The audio catalog isn’t exhaustive: While Qobuz has a very deep catalog of tracks, you may miss some of your favorites.

In that case, you may need to check out another music streaming service like Spotify or Apple Music.

All things considered, though, these are relatively minor complaints.

Overall, Qobuz is a great option for anyone who cares about sound quality and loves music, especially if you’re willing to pay a little extra for those perks.

Why Qobuz Is Worth It

Now that we’ve gone over some of the pros and cons of Qobuz, it’s time to look at why the service is worth your hard-earned cash.

Qobuz Offers True CD-Quality Sound

qobuz streaming quality comparison
Image: KnowTechie

The first reason Qobuz is worth it is that it offers true CD-quality sound. With a bitrate of up to 24-bit/192kHz, Qobuz is on the same level as Tidal’s HiFi subscription.

That means you’ll enjoy your favorite songs in high quality without worrying about sacrificing sound quality for file size.

Minimal to No Buffering When Streaming Music

Another big selling point for Qobuz is its lack of buffering.

When you stream music from Qobuz, you can be confident that you’re getting a consistent, high-quality stream without interruptions.

Besides, who wants to listen to their favorite songs with pauses in between?

That said, ensuring your internet connection is strong enough to handle high-quality audio streaming is crucial. Otherwise, you may experience some buffering issues.

Extensive Catalog of Music

Qobuz also has an extensive music catalog, with millions of tracks available to stream and download.

Whether you’re a mainstream pop or niche genre fan, you’re sure to find something you love on Qobuz.

To put things into perspective, the streaming service boasts over 80 million tracks, while Tidal and Spotify’s catalogs clock in at 80 – 90 million based on independent estimates by SoundGuys.

That means you’re unlikely to run out of songs to listen to anytime soon.

Besides, the company is always adding new tracks to its catalog, so you’ll never get bored of listening to the same songs over and over again.

You Get a Free 30-Day Trial

qobuz free 30-day free trial
Image: KnowTechie

As I mentioned, Qobuz also offers free 30-day trials to new users.

If you’re unsure whether or not it’s the right streaming service for you, you can try it out without committing to paying for a subscription.

Simply put, it’s a risk-free way to test out the service and decide for yourself whether or not it’s worth your hard-earned cash.

Qobuz Integrates With Many Devices

streaming speakers companies that work with hi-fi streaming services
Image: KnowTechie

Qobuz integrates with many devices, including popular brands like Sonos, Bose, and Denon. That means you’ll be able to stream your favorite tunes on your preferred device without any issues.

It’s also worth noting that Qobuz offers a dedicated app for Android and iOS devices.

So whether you’re using an iPhone or an Android phone, you’ll be able to enjoy your favorite tunes on the go. However, remember that the service doesn’t support smart speakers or game consoles.

So if you’re looking for a streaming service that you can use on your PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, Qobuz may not be the right choice for you.

Discounts Are Available for Families

Last but not least, Qobuz offers discounts for families. If you’re a parent with young children, you can get a discount on your subscription.

For starters, up to 6 family members can use a single account. That means you won’t have to worry about your kids racking up a huge bill by streaming music all day long.

Plus, each family member will get their own personalized account with their own playlists and recommendations.

That way, everyone in the family can enjoy their listening experience without compromising.

Who Should Get Qobuz?

Anyone looking for a high-quality, comprehensive music streaming service will benefit from Qobuz. The service is worth considering if you’re a lossless audio fan.

Plus, if you often find yourself streaming over mobile data, Qobuz’s Hi-Fi plans let you download tracks and albums for offline playback in high fidelity.

Is Qobuz Better Than Tidal?

Qobuz and Tidal are two streaming music giants, but which one reigns supreme? Here’s a breakdown of the key differences between the two:

Qobuz boasts a larger selection of hi-res audio tracks, but Tidal has some exclusive content from certain artists.

Both services have a similar price point for their premium subscriptions, but Qobuz offers a cheaper option without Hi-Res audio.

tidal free tier
Image: KnowTechie

As for the user interface, it’s a matter of personal preference. Not sure which one to go with? Take advantage of the free trials and see which service floats your boat.

But ultimately, most audiophiles believe Qobuz is better than Tidal. While both services offer high-quality, lossless streaming, Qobuz’s sound quality is generally considered superior.

However, Tidal boasts a slightly more extensive catalog of songs. So, if you’re looking for a particular track that’s not available on Qobuz, Tidal is worth checking out.

Is Qobuz Truly Lossless?

Qobuz is a truly lossless music streaming service. That means you’ll be able to enjoy CD-quality audio without any compression.

Besides, the company offers a hi-fi plan to stream and download tracks in 24-bit/192kHz quality.

If you’re an audiophile, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better streaming service than Qobuz.

How Much Does Qobuz Cost?

how much does qobuz cost
Image: KnowTechie

As we mentioned earlier, Qobuz offers a couple of streaming plans. And compared to other music streaming services, the monthly subscription cost is pretty fair.

Here’s a quick breakdown of how much Qobuz costs for a single user:

Studio

$10.83 per month

  • Studio quality streaming (FLAC 24-Bit up to 192 kHz)
  • Over 80 million tracks
  • Original editorial content
  • Offline listening

Sublime

$15 per month

  • Studio quality streaming (FLAC 24-Bit up to 192 kHz)
  • Over 80 million tracks
  • Original editorial content
  • Offline listening
  • Discounts on Hi-Res purchases of up to 60%

The Bottom Line

top metal releases on qobuz
Image: Kevin Raposo / KnowTechie

Qobuz is a great choice for anyone looking for a high-quality, comprehensive music streaming service.

The company offers a wide range of plans to suit your needs and budget. Plus, it provides discounts for families.

With that said, Qobuz is not the right choice for everyone. You’ll need to look elsewhere if you’re looking for a streaming service that supports smart speakers or game consoles.

Nonetheless, if you’re looking for the best possible sound quality, Qobuz is definitely worth considering.

Qobuz

Qobuz and Tidal offer high-quality audio and a solid selection of tunes, but it’s up to you to decide which is the real MVP. Consider the size of the music library, the user interface, the availability of specific songs or albums, the audio quality, the cost, and any additional features or perks before you make your decision. Can’t decide? Try them both out and see which one floats your boat.

Tesla’s “full self-driving” software is under investigation after a driver claimed it caused an eight-car collision in San Francisco.

The accident left nine people with minor injuries, including one hospitalized juvenile.

The incident occurred last month and is described in a California Highway Patrol traffic crash report. The report states that the driver claims their Tesla braked unexpectedly, leading to the pileup.

According to a review of videos by the California Highway Patrol, the Tesla was seen changing lanes and slowing to a stop before the incident.

The driver in the accident claims one thing, but the California Highway Patrol says they can’t confirm if “full self-driving” was active when it crashed.

According to the report, the Tesla traveled at around 55 mph before suddenly braking and slowing to about 20 mph.

This sudden change in speed reportedly caused a chain reaction collision involving eight vehicles traveling at typical highway speeds.

The timing of this pileup couldn’t have come at a worse time. The pileup occurred hours after Elon Musk announced that Tesla’s “full self-driving” software was available to anyone in North America who requested it.

Before this announcement, the driver-assist software had only been available to drivers with high safety scores on Tesla’s rating system.

The investigation into this 8-eight car pileup is still ongoing, and we’ll update if any updates are made available.

Until then, if you’re a Tesla owner with “full self-driving” capabilities, keep a vigilant eye. Tesla warns it “may do the wrong thing at the worst time.”

UPDATE 12/20/2022 12:16 PM EST: Instagram’s services are back up and running. Instagram was offline for a period of time this morning but has since resolved the issue and is back up and running.

Instagram is currently experiencing issues for thousands of its users right now.

According to Downdetector, 6,842 people have reported an outage. That number first started rising at 11:19 AM ET. That number seems to stabilize, but reports continue to roll in on Twitter.

Reports show that feeds are not loading or users are getting kicked from their accounts.

At this point, it’s unclear what’s causing the outage and whether it’s an isolated event. One Twitter user notes, “Is my Instagram down or have I just been hacked?”

On the other hand, reports are dwindling, and whatever outage Instagram is experiencing seems to be subsiding. As of 11:30 AM, the number of reports has fallen to 449.

That’s typically a good sign and means services are slowly being restored.

Naturally, users are venting their frustrations to other social sites like Twitter. Here is what some of them are saying:

As of 11:49 AM EST, it seems Instagram’s services are back up and running. If anything changes, we’ll update the post with any additional details.

We’ll continue to update this as more information is made available.

Twitter thinks Elon Musk should step down as Twitter’s CEO https://knowtechie.com/twitter-thinks-elon-musk-should-step-down-as-twitters-ceo/ Mon, 19 Dec 2022 17:22:07 +0000 https://knowtechie.com/?p=263679 Will he choose to heed the call of the masses and step down, or will he double down on his tumultuous leadership style?

The post Twitter thinks Elon Musk should step down as Twitter’s CEO appeared first on KnowTechie.

]]>
The people have spoken. In a recent Twitter poll, over 50% of users believe Elon Musk should step down as the company’s CEO.

The poll, created by Musk himself, asked his 122 million followers if he should step down as head of Twitter. It ended early this morning, with 57.5% of people voting ‘yes.’

Musk said he would follow the poll’s results, regardless of the outcome.

Despite the overwhelming results, Musk has yet to acknowledge the outcome publicly and offer any response.

The only thing he did say about the poll was that finding a replacement wouldn’t be easy.

“No one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive,” Musk said in response to a user suggesting that he would resign. “There is no successor.”

At one point, Tom from MySpace (yes, that Tom) chimed in to respond to Musk’s poll, “Depends who you get to run it!” – possibly implying he’d be up for the job.

Does Elon Musk really want to be Twitter’s CEO?

elon musk in front of twitter icon
Image: KnowTechie

It’s possible that Musk’s poll was a way for him to gauge public opinion and potentially justify leaving Twitter to focus more on Tesla, the main source of his wealth.

In fact, he has sold a staggering $40 billion worth of Tesla stock over the past year.

One painfully obvious thing, which our own Curtis Silver points out, is the seemingly endless barrage of Musk-related news stories.

“Elon has sucked the air out of the room for a few weeks now with his dominance of the tech news cycle and I think even he is getting exhausted by it.”

Either way, Musk’s poll results are definitive, and most users want him out. Will he choose to heed the call of the masses and step down, or will he double down on his tumultuous leadership style?

How to update your iPhone to get end-to-end encryption https://knowtechie.com/how-to-update-your-iphone-to-get-end-to-end-encryption/ Thu, 15 Dec 2022 17:26:50 +0000 https://knowtechie.com/?p=263136 Not even Apple can see your stuff when it's on their servers, and the cops can't get to it even with a warrant.

The post How to update your iPhone to get end-to-end encryption appeared first on KnowTechie.

]]>
Apple released a new iPhone, iPad, and Mac update that offers users even more privacy for data stored on iCloud, thanks to end-to-end encryption.

The update includes a new feature called Advanced Data Protection. Users can now encrypt Apple Photos, Notes, iMessage conversations, and iCloud backups kept in the cloud.

If you turn on this feature, most of what you put in iCloud is only accessible to you. And if someone hacks iCloud, your data is safe.

Not even Apple can see your stuff when it’s on their servers, and the cops can’t get to it even with a warrant.

illustration of imessage contact key verification in action
Image: Apple

But since Apple won’t have the keys to your stuff anymore, you’ll have to set up another way to get it back if you lose access to your account.

Advanced Data Protection means users are on their own when recovering their data if they lose access. So, no more trips to the Genius Bar and no more easy backups in the case of an emergency.

If you find yourself locked out of your account, Apple says you’ll need your device password, recovery contact, or recovery key to get your iCloud data back.

How to set up Advanced Data Protection on your iPhone

Apple Advanced Data Protection screenshots for iPhone, iPad, and Mac on a purple background
Image: KnowTechie

First, update all your Apple products. This includes updating your iPhone, iPad, and Mac to the latest version of their operating systems.

For a quick refresher, click any of these below for step-by-step instructions on updating your device:

After updating your Apple devices to the latest version of their operating systems, you’re ready to proceed.

Here’s how to set up Advanced Data Protection on your iPhone

  1. Go to Settings > iCloud > Advanced Data Protection

  2. Once there, tap ‘Account Recovery’ or ‘Advanced Data Protection’ to move ahead

  3. You’ll see a notification letting you know you’re responsible for your data recovery. Tap ‘Set Up Account Recovery’ to begin the process

  4. This step will ask you to add a recovery contact or generate a recovery key

  5. Apple suggests choosing someone you trust to help you get access back to your account. Just keep in mind that Apple won’t be able to help you get back in

  6. Next, you’ll be asked to message your chosen recovery contact to let them know they’ve been selected. They’ll need to approve your request before you can move forward

  7. Alternatively, you can set up a recovery key if you don’t want to trust someone else with all your iCloud data. This is a 28-character code you’ll need to keep safe to recover your backups

  8. After setting up your recovery key, you’ll be asked to verify it by retyping it. Once you’ve done so, your recovery key will be enabled

  9. Finally, once you turn on Advanced Data Protection, you’ll have to enter your iPhone password to enable it

There you go. You have now enabled Advanced Data Protection on your iPhone.

A couple of things to remember with Advanced Data Protection

Remember, if you don’t have your recovery key stored safely or a recovery contact set up – you’re screwed. Your data is as good as gone.

Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

A couple of things to note, as pointed out by MacRumors Joe Rossignol: iCloud Mail, Calendar, and Contacts are still not end-to-end encrypted.

Elon Musk says Twitter is phasing out legacy verified checkmarks https://knowtechie.com/twitter-legacy-verified-checkmarks-rip/ Tue, 13 Dec 2022 17:08:39 +0000 https://knowtechie.com/?p=262471 Better start kissing that blue checkmark goodbye, folks

The post Elon Musk says Twitter is phasing out legacy verified checkmarks appeared first on KnowTechie.

]]>
If you recently got your Twitter account verified and didn’t pay $8 for it – don’t get too attached to it. Twitter is reportedly phasing them out in a few months.

Twitter recently relaunched its Twitter Blue subscription service and introduced a new “verified” checkmark system.

Now, the company is setting its sights on the old “legacy” checkmarks, which has raised some questions.

If you own a legacy verified account or stumbled across one, you may have noticed something different when clicking it.

legacy twitter verified notice on purple background
Image: KnowTechie

A notice appears that says, “This is a legacy verified account. It may or may not be notable,” or “the account was previously verified under the legacy verification criteria.”

This is interesting because even Twitter CEO Elon Musk has a legacy verified account, meaning he may or may not be notable.

Twitter is coming for your verified status

So, why is Twitter suddenly turning its focus on legacy accounts? Some speculate that the company may be planning to phase out the legacy verified accounts in favor of the new verified checkmark.

Image: KnowTechie

Others have suggested that Twitter may offer an upgrade option for legacy verified users to switch to the new verified checkmark.

Well, let’s hear it straight from the source. In a recent tweet, CEO Elon Musk clarified that all legacy verified checkmarks will be removed in the coming months.

“In a few months, we will remove all legacy blue checks. The way in which they were given out was corrupt and nonsensical.”

So there you go, Musk confirms that old-school checkmarks are going bye-bye within the next few months.

Verified folks, I’m sorry, but Twitter is coming for your verified status, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Whether you’re a verified celeb, a VIP Twitter user, or just a random Joe with a blue checkmark, it’s time to start saying your goodbyes.

I, on the other hand, am not verified. Therefore, I am not notable and basically invisible. But I don’t have to worry about Twitter taking away my legacy checkmark. Silver linings, amirite?

Twitter is replacing the “official” verified label with a gold checkmark on some business accounts. The change will help users easily identify verified business accounts on the platform.

In addition, Twitter will soon also add a gray checkmark for government and multilateral accounts like the United Nations and the World Health Organization.

According to Twitter, the new gold checkmark aims at “large and established” businesses verified by the platform.

Here’s what Twitter’s new Gold checkmark looks like on business accounts

On the other hand, the gray checkmark identifies government and multilateral accounts, like national governments and public institutions.

So, where can you expect to see these new gold checkmarks?

Twitter says the new checkmarks will appear on the account’s profile pages and individual tweets from these accounts.

If this all sounds familiar, it’s because it is. It’s basically the old badge system, but in Gold.

Twitter says the change is gradually rolling out over the coming weeks, and eligible accounts will eventually get the new checkmarks.

Gold and gray checkmarks are part of Twitter’s ongoing efforts to improve the user experience and provide more information about the accounts on its platform.

By clearly identifying verified business and government accounts, Twitter hopes to make it easier for users to find reliable sources and reduce the spread of misinformation.

Why Twitter ended up going with the color gold is beyond me, as there are definitely some issues with it.

Mainly, this color doesn’t really match the site’s aesthetic, and it feels a bit out of place and forced. But mainly, it’s this tweet that did it for me:

The audio-hardware manufacturer is a subsidiary of Harman and has a promising future in the smart speaker market currently dominated by Amazon and Google.

The company offers different speakers for different setups, and it can be confusing to know how to connect them correctly to your devices.

So if you’re asking yourself, “can I connect my JBL speaker to my computer?” Yes, you can – you’ll just have to figure out which connection is best for your needs.

This post will help you with step-by-step instructions on how to pair JBL speakers with computers and laptops.

Connection method 1: (AUX cable)

Except for a few of the latest models, all JBL speakers offer two connectivity options: Bluetooth and AUX.

The latter is the simplest way to pair JBL speakers to your computer or laptop.

All you need is a 3.5mm male-to-male AUX cable and these step-by-step instructions:

  • Next, lift the slot cover on the back of your JBL speaker to reveal the AUX input, where you can plug in the 3.5mm audio cable or connect a micro-USB cable.

An unlikely guest at a Dave Chappelle stand-up show in San Francisco was showered with boos. The guest? Twitter’s new owner: Elon Musk.

Video footage shows Musk taking the stage and yelling Chappelle’s famous Rick James impression: “I’m rich, b***h.”

Afterward, the audience booed Musk for several minutes, reports Gizmodo. Watch it below:

Interestingly enough, someone posted the video on Twitter. However, as this Twitter user points out, Twitter seems to have deleted the account. What a coincidence.

Chappelle, who has also faced criticism for jokes targeting transgender people, told Musk that “it sounds like some of those people you fired are in the audience.”

At one point, Chappelle interrupted Musk’s attempt to speak, saying: “Don’t say nothing. You hear that sound, Elon? That’s the sound of pending civil unrest.”

Naturally, Musk is getting dragged for the appearance and has attempted to save face by joking about it on Twitter.

Musk claimed the audience reaction was “90% cheers and 10% boos.”

However, several people who attended the event tweeted that the booing was louder and more sustained.

The writing is on the wall, and it’s painfully obvious that folks are quickly tiring of his shit. Sure, he’s rich, but all that money in the world can’t buy him people’s respect.

I’ll close with this banger of a tweet from comedian Mike Drucker:

“The funniest part of Elon Musk getting booed for ten minutes by Dave Chappelle fans is you know Elon thought he’d come out doing some corny bit like, “my pronouns are no/thanks!” and get a standing ovation.”

The post JBL speaker won’t connect? JBL speaker keeps disconnecting? appeared first on KnowTechie.

Quick Answer: To troubleshoot a JBL speaker that won’t connect or keeps disconnecting, double-check that it’s charged and turned on. If that doesn’t work, try restarting the speaker and your device. If the problem persists, reset the speaker and turn off and on the Bluetooth on your device.

One of the most frustrating things can be trying to get your JBL speaker to connect properly.

It can be frustrating to go through the steps to connect your speaker only to find that it won’t connect or that the connection is unstable.

This can be especially frustrating if you’re trying to listen to music or watch a movie, and the audio keeps cutting out.

It seems like it should be a straightforward process – turn on the speaker, wait for your Bluetooth device to make the connection, and start listening.

But we often find ourselves struggling with a stubbornly uncooperative JBL speaker.

Why does my JBL speaker keep turning off?

Your JBL Bluetooth speaker won’t connect due to several possible reasons.

For example, a weak or unstable Bluetooth signal, interference from other electronic devices, or problems with the speaker itself.

For example, things like low battery, outdated firmware, or multiple devices connected simultaneously.

Thankfully, there’s no need to panic. There are steps you can take to try and troubleshoot the problem and get your speaker working properly.

This post provides some tips on things you can do to prevent your JBL speaker from disconnecting. And if your JBL won’t connect, we have some workarounds.

JBL Speaker Keeps Disconnecting: Possible Fixes

Image: KnowTechie

What can you do when your JBL speaker doesn’t connect? Here are a few tips that might help.

  1. One thing to check is the proximity of your device (Mac, PC, iPhone, or Android) and the JBL speaker. Ensure they are close to each other—usually 30 feet or less.

  2. If the speaker connects on its first try, but you’re having trouble with the connection, try unlinking other devices. Doing so will help reduce the amount of interference the speaker is experiencing.

  3. Be sure your JBL speaker has a fully charged battery. If it is low, charge it before trying to pair it again.

  4. Make sure your JBL speaker’s Bluetooth is turned on and ‘Discovery Mode’ is enabled. Most JBL speakers will have a blinking blue light on the power button when they are in discovery mode. How to connect JBL speakers to iPhone

  5. You should also check the Bluetooth connectivity of the device you are trying to connect with. If it is weak or spotty, that might be the reason your JBL speaker keeps disconnecting.jbl speakers next to iphone showing how to connect

  6. If other electronic devices (especially a Wi-Fi router) are near your JBL speaker, it may be causing interference; try moving the speaker to a different location.

  7. If your JBL speaker has been functioning correctly in the past but has started to disconnect just recently, it’s possible that the speaker’s firmware needs an update.

You can update your speaker’s firmware via the JBL Portable app from the App Store and Google Play.jbl connect android app

  8. If these solutions aren’t working, consider resetting your JBL speaker to its factory default settings.

This will erase all cache of previous settings and connections, but it could be your best bet to get your speaker working properly again.

To reset most JBL speakers, press and hold the volume up (+) and the Play button simultaneously and let the device restart.jbl speaker keeps disconnecting how to fix on purple background

Why won’t my JBL speakers connect to each other?

You’re not alone if you’re having trouble getting your JBL speaker to connect or stay connected.

Many users have reported the very same issues, but the good news is that there are several potential solutions that you can try.

These include restarting your speaker and device, ensuring that your speaker is within range of your device, and having the latest firmware installed on both your speaker and your device.

If none of these solutions work, you may contact JBL customer support.

The post How to connect JBL speakers to iPhone? appeared first on KnowTechie.

Quick Answer: To connect JBL speakers to an iPhone, you can use Bluetooth or a wired connection. With Bluetooth turned on the JBL speaker and iPhone, wait for your JBL speakers to appear on your iPhone’s list of available devices. Then tap on the JBL speaker’s name to connect to your iPhone.

Like most Apple users, you probably regularly use your iPhone to listen to music.

But what if you could take that listening experience to a new level by connecting your iPhone to a high-quality JBL speaker?

Not only would the sound be louder and more immersive, but it would also be richer and more nuanced.

Siri integration is another plus feature, but it is only available for the latest JBL speakers in Xtreme, Pulse, Charge, and Flip lineup.

You can ask Siri to play your favorite song, turn up the volume, or skip to the next track.

Now that you know the benefits of connecting your iPhone to a JBL speaker, let’s get down to the basics of how to do it.

Pairing a JBL speaker with an iPhone

iphone bluetooth setting
Image: KnowTechie

Both JBL and Apple hate 3.5mm aux outputs. The lightning port transmits power and audio from iPhone 7 to the latest iPhone 14.

Likewise, most JBL speakers have Bluetooth as the only option for connectivity.

The company has an app (JBL Portable) for both IOS and Android devices that covers all its speakers except for some low-end sonic boxes in JBL Go and Clip Series.

Though useful for firmware updates and setting up different modes in a multi-speaker setup, the app isn’t necessary to pair JBL speakers with iPhones and, in general, any other device.

How to easily connect your JBL speaker to iPhone via Bluetooth: Step-by-step

Here, we’ll show you how to pair the JBL Flip 4 with the iPhone 14.

As Bluetooth is involved here, the steps remain the same, whether it’s for an old JBL Clip 2 or the latest Boombox 2.

How to pair JBL speakers to iPhone

  1. Make sure that both devices are close to each other.

  2. Press the ‘power button‘ once to turn on the JBL Flip 4. A solid white light will appear on the ‘power icon’ immediately, followed by an audio cue.How to connect JBL speakers to iPhone

  3. Press the ‘Bluetooth Button’ for 2-3 seconds to enter pairing mode, indicated by a blinking blue light.Picture of a JBL speaker on a purple background / How to connect JBL speakers to iPhone?

  4. On your iPhone, go to Settings, tap on ‘Bluetooth,’ and toggle on the switch.iphone settings for pairing bluetooth How to connect JBL speakers to iPhone?

  5. In the ‘Other Devices’ section, the speaker’s name will appear as ‘JBL Flip 4’. Tap on the name and wait for a few seconds.iphone bluetooth settings How to connect JBL speakers to iPhone?

  6. The two devices will now pair, and you can listen to music on your JBL speakers using your iPhone.

Connecting JBL speakers to iPhone via an AUX cable

You can connect your iPhone to the JBL speaker with a 3.5mm audio cable if you want a wired connection.

Just plug one end of the cable into the iPhone’s headphone jack adapter and the other end into the JBL speaker aux input.

FAQs

If none of these steps aren’t helping you pair your JBL speaker to your iPhone, there may be a problem. Here are some troubleshooting questions in the FAQ section below.

Why can’t I connect my JBL speaker to my iPhone?

If you recently connected your speaker to a device, it will automatically connect to that device when you turn it on. A stable blue light is an indicator of this.

You will have to unpair your JBL speaker first or override the previous pairing by pressing the Bluetooth button for almost 3-5 seconds.

The speaker will now enter pairing mode, and you can easily connect it to the iPhone.

If those steps don’t work, it may be because your JBL speaker is out of range or has a low battery. And if this isn’t the case, the only option you have left is to reset the speaker to its factory settings.

Is JBL compatible with the iPhone?

Yes, your JBL Bluetooth speaker is compatible with the iPhone. Apart from playing music, you can make calls and summon Siri with most JBL speakers.

How can I connect multiple JBL portable speakers to my iPhone?

You will start by connecting the primary JBL speaker with the iPhone.

Next, you will have to press the connect button on both the primary and secondary JBL speakers together. You can build a chain of almost 100 speakers this way.

The post Musk says Apple never considered removing Twitter from App Store appeared first on KnowTechie.

]]>
Remember when Elon Musk claimed that Apple threatened to withhold Twitter from its App Store? As it turns out, that was all one big sham.

Elon Musk has threatened to build his own smartphone if Apple and Google remove Twitter from their app stores.

This followed a series of tweets in which the Twitter CEO criticized Apple for threatening to withhold the microblogging site’s app from the App Store.

But now, after meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook at the company’s headquarters, Musk says that he was told by Cook that Apple “never considered” removing Twitter from its App Store.

“Good conversation,” Musk wrote in a tweet. “Among other things, we resolved the misunderstanding about Twitter potentially being removed from the App Store. Tim was clear that Apple never considered doing so.”

To be fair, Apple never publicly announced its decision to ban Twitter from the App Store.

Still, rumors suggested that Cupertino company could take action after Musk reinstated accounts previously banned by Twitter. Mainly former President Donald Trump.

Not only that, but Twitter suspended its policy against COVID misinformation, which could open the door to a flood of unmoderated content.

Apple and Google app store policies prevent hate speech, discrimination, and harassment on apps in their respective app store.

It’s unclear whether Musk managed to clear up other issues he mentioned in recent tweets.

He complained that Apple takes a 30 percent share of any app-related revenue generated by developers who earn more than $1 million through the App Store.

I’m guessing he didn’t. This was all a big stunt just to get users to log on to Twitter and read his tweets. Ultimately, Musk looks like the loser here. As Twitter user Security Dialogue wrote in a tweet:

“Wanna know how you know Tim Cook was the baddest man in this whole feud? He let homeboy talk out of his ass for a whole week about Tim and then, he SUMMONED his ass. When dude left, all he could do was the “It was all one big misunderstanding! Oops. Buy Apple!”

Well said. If anyone is keeping score: Tim Cook: 1 – Elon Musk: 0.

Under Elon Musk, Twitter has announced that it will no longer enforce its longstanding COVID misinformation policy.

In 2020, Twitter introduced new policies prohibiting users from posting misinformation about the coronavirus and its vaccines. Soon later, it began suspending users who promoted harmful misinformation.

From January 2020 to September 2022, Twitter suspended more than 11,000 accounts for spreading COVID misinformation. The company also deleted over 100,000 pieces of content that violated its policies.

Twitter did not formally announce the change. Instead, users noticed a note added to Twitter’s Transparency page that outlines its new COVID policy.

“Effective November 23, 2022, Twitter is no longer enforcing the COVID-19 misleading information policy,” the page reads.

This isn’t the first time Musk expressed his disdain over COVID policies. In a 2020 Tesla earnings call, the CEO went off the rails and said COVID policies are “fascist.”

“I would call it, ‘forcibly imprisoning people in their homes’ against all their Constitutional rights, in my opinion, and breaking people’s freedoms in ways that are horrible and wrong and not why people came to America or built this country,” Musk said on the call. “It’s an outrage.”

Elon Musk is hellbent on making Twitter a haven of “free speech”

The new policy change is the most recent in a series of measures taken since Elon Musk took over as owner.

Recently, Musk announced that he would introduce a “general amnesty” for suspended Twitter accounts that have not broken laws or engaged in egregious spamming.

Not to mention, Musk recently reinstated the Twitter accounts of prominent people like former President Trump and Kanye West. Naturally, this caused strife within Twitter.

Many Twitter employees have quit since Musk acquired the company, including members of the trust and safety team. To most, this was an indication that content moderation policies would likely change.

Whether you want to annoy everyone at the beach with your questionable music taste or turn your phone into a full-fledged sound system, JBL offers something for everyone.

What a lot of people don’t know is that JBL Bluetooth speakers connect easily to each other.

The feature dubbed ‘Connect’ rolled out with the Pulse 2, Clip 2, and Flip 3, allowing users to link multiple JBL speakers together. The maximum limit was set to two devices at a time.

What JBL Speakers Connect Together?

JBL speakers can connect with each other as long as they follow the same protocol

For example, Pulse 3 and Charge 4 can connect together, whereas Pulse 2 and Flip 4 can’t connect because they follow different communication protocols.

The list below will help you figure out what protocol your JBL speaker supports

Keep in mind that JBL’s communication protocols are not backward compatible. Also, older models can’t upgrade to ‘Connect+’ or ‘Party Boost’ except for the JBL Charge 3.

How many JBL speakers can you connect?

As mentioned earlier, the connection limit is two for models that support the ‘connect’ protocol. Whereas those with the latest protocols can connect to 100 speakers simultaneously.

How can I set my connected JBL speakers in Stereo Mode?

JBL’s smartphone app allows you to set two or multiple connected JBL speakers to either ‘Stereo‘ or ‘Party‘ Mode.

However, only identical JBL speakers can give you Stereo sound. Any other configuration will result in a dual-mono sound.

Can I upgrade from JBL Connect+ to JBL PartyBoost using a firmware update?

No, the old JBL speakers with Connect+ technology cannot upgrade to ‘PartyBoost.’

With only one exception of the JBL Charge 3, the company has strictly isolated its communication protocols.

So if your JBL speaker has hit its upgrade ceiling, all you can do is shell out some extra bucks for the latest device.

You can delink one or multiple JBL speakers from the rest in a multi-pairing scenario without any inconvenience.

You can either press the power button to turn it off or the connect button to unpair it.

However, before disconnecting, make sure you’re not disconnecting the primary speaker (the one connected to the audio source).

What is the difference between JBL Connect+ and PartyBoost?

While ‘Connect+’ significantly improved over the original ‘Connect,’ PartyBoost has nothing to offer more than the connectivity range.

The latest Speakers with PartyBoost have a wireless range of 60+ feet compared to 30+ in those with Connect+.

The maximum number of connected devices for both protocols is 100 speakers.

Pairing multiple JBL speakers together isn’t so hard

Pairing two or multiple JBL speakers is a breeze, but make sure that all of them have the same communication protocol.

You can connect up to 100 portable JBL speakers with JBL’s latest connection types (Connect+ or PartyBoost), whereas the old ones (‘Connect’) can be linked to only one extra speaker.

A factory or hard reset can quickly fix various issues, including a frozen or unresponsive screen, picture distortion, audio problems, and firmware issues.

But what if you don’t have a remote? Thankfully, resetting a Vizio TV without a remote is a straightforward process, as this post will show you.

If you lost your remote or it somehow stopped working, don’t worry; we have you covered. This guide will share two methods to reset your Vizio TV without the remote.

Ready to get started? Let’s get to it, but first:

⚠ Factory resetting your Vizio TV will erase all your data, preferences, and settings, and you will have to set it up again as if it was new.

First, try a soft reset

Power cycling the TV is a good first step when your Vizio TV isn’t responding. This process will restart the television without deleting any data.

All you need to do is unplug the TV from the power outlet for 60 seconds and then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Finally, you will have to plug in the power cord. Repeat this process two or three times and see if it fixes the problem.

Method 1: Vizio Smart TV hard reset without remote

To use this step, your Vizio TV requires physical function buttons. These include things like volume and power buttons.

Thankfully, most Vizio TVs have them, but there are rare exceptions. If you have them, here’s how to do it.

If power cycling the TV doesn’t work, you can try a hard reset. Follow these steps:

  1. Turn on the TV by pressing the power button on the back.

  2. While the TV is on, press and hold the ‘Input’ and ‘Volume Down’ Botton simultaneously for 10-15 secondsimage of How to Reset Vizio TV Without Remote on a purple background

  3. A prompt will ask if you want to reset the TV. Press the input button to reset.image of a vizio tv on purple background

  4. Your Vizio TV will restart, and your data will be deleted.

  5. The TV is now reset to factory default settings. And mind you, without any remote involved.

If you’re still having difficulty resetting your TV without the remote, attach a mouse and keyboard to the TV and use the on-screen keyboard to set up your TV again.

Method 2: Hard reset Vizio Smart TV with the SmartCast app

If your TV doesn’t have physical buttons to press, you can use the SmartCast app to perform a hard reset on your Vizio TV.

This app allows you to control your TV with your smartphone or tablet.

  1. First, download and install the SmartCast app on your Android or iOS device.

  1. Open the SmartCast app and sign in with your Vizio account credentials.
  2. Search for the nearby devices, and then select your TV.
  3. Once the TV is selected, your TV will display a number code.
  4. Enter the number code in the SmartCast app.
  5. The app is now connected to the TV and would work as a virtual remote.
  6. Follow these commands: Open Settings>>System>>’Reset and Admin’>>’Reset TV to Factory Defaults.’ If the TV asks for a code, fill in ‘0000’ as the code.
  7. Your Vizio TV will restart, and all your data will be deleted.
  8. The TV is now reset to factory default settings without any remote involved.

UPDATE 11/7/2022 6:12 AM ET: Twitter said it would delay verifying accounts for its new Twitter Blue subscription until after Tuesday’s midterm elections. The decision came a day after the company said it would begin allowing people to pay for a blue checkmark

Twitter looks like it’s rolling out its new, premium version of Twitter Blue on iOS.

The $8.99 subscription automatically gets you a blue verified checkmark, “just like the celebrities, companies, and politicians you already follow,” notes the app’s changelog on the App Store.

Via the changelog:

Starting today, we’re adding great new features to Twitter Blue and have more on the way soon.

– Blue checkmark: Power to the people: Your account will get a blue checkmark, just like the celebrities, companies, and politicians you already follow.

Coming soon…
– Half the ads & much better ones: Since you’re supporting Twitter in the battle against the bots, we’re going to reward you with half the ads and make them twice as relevant.
– Post longer videos: You’ll finally be able to post longer videos to Twitter.
– Priority ranking for quality content: Your content will get priority ranking in replies, mentions, and search. This helps lower the visibility of scams, spam, and bots.
Availability: Twitter Blue with verification is currently available on iOS in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.

So, what about the Android app? Unfortunately, Twitter hasn’t pushed any updates nor given any timetable for when users should expect to see it.

For now, Twitter Blue’s iOS update is more of a test than a finished product.

A Twitter product manager, Esther Crawford, confirmed this and tweeted that users “may see us making updates because we are testing and pushing changes in real-time.”

The verification system is the biggest change we’re seeing with the update. Twitter Blue users now get a blue checkmark and a revamped notification system. However, the notification update is still up in the air.

For now, verification will be the only feature available to Twitter Blue users first. Other perks, including fewer ads, priority ranking, and longer video limits, are “coming soon.”

Now is your chance if you ever wanted a coveted blue checkmark on Twitter. Just as long as you’re on iOS and fine with paying $8 every month for that status.

Twitter Blue is available in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.

So far, 35 partners are on board. The list includes Paramount+, Showtime, AMC+, and more. In addition, the company says services like NBA League Pass and other channels are coming soon.
